Even though it only premiered on 425 screens last night, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol brought in an impressive $1.1 million for midnight showings…thanks largely to the new Dark Knight Rises preview.
Here's what a Paramount executive had to say about it:
We've just learned that Paranormal Activity 3 has already brought in $8 million from midnight showings, which is an improvement from PA 2, which earned $6.3 mil on its first Thursday night in release.
Paramount has announced that they expect the movie to gross at least $35 million in the U.S., but let's be honest - it's going to surpass that!
Sounds to us like there will definitely be some PROFITABLE activity going on at the Box Office this weekend! Ha!
Who knew the Fast & Furious franchise would still be going strong??
It's latest installment, Fast Five, debuted early Friday morning with its midnight showings and grossed around $3.7 million at the domestic box office!!
The movie's opening made nearly double then 2009's Fast & Furious, which grossed about $1.8 million on opening night.
And it's not just the U.S. where Fast Five is making big buck$$$. It's made $35.6 million overseas and is No. 1 in all of its current markets, including Germany and the UK.
That's incredible! Looks like we'll definitely be seeing a whole more Fast sequels.
With all the money Vin Diesel is making on these movies, he'll never have to work ever again! LOLz.
However, it only comes in third for highest grossing midnight film premiere, because both Twilight sequels, New Moon and Eclipse, beat it out at their respective $26.2 and $30 million - the current record holder!
