We heard it was a possibility, but now it has been confirmed. Tom Hanks is coming to Broadway!
The Oscar-winning actor will make his debut in Nora Ephron's Lucky Guy, which follows the controversial career of a Mike McAlary, a New York columnist who won a Pulitzer Prize just before his death in 1998.
Previews for the show at the Broadhurst Theatre will begin on March 1 and opening night is scheduled for April 1.
We're very excited to see! Not only is it Tom Hanks, but it's the Sleepless In Seattle and You've Got Mail writer's last work finished before her death this past June.
While it's sad she won't be able to see one of her favorite actors bring her words to life, we're just happy that others can.

Wonderful news!
Nora Ephron’s final play Lucky Guy, about famed newspaper columnist Mike McAlary WILL continue on its path towards the Great White Way!
Lead producer and former HBO films president Colin Callendar reveals:
"We are honored to be part of her legacy and remain committed to seeing her magnificent work, Lucky Guy, shine on Broadway and can think of no more fitting tribute to her extraordinary writing."
According to reports, the production will be brought to life by Tony winner George C. Wolf, and Tom Hanks may fill the legendary shoes of McAlary himself.
We’re SO thrilled! What a lovely way to honor one’s memory and make sure their love's labor doesn’t go to waste…
And obviously, we can’t WAIT to see the finished product!

It's exciting news, but less exciting because he won't be starring in a musical. (We really miss The Boy from Oz…)
Sources are confirming that Hugh Jackman is in the pre-production stages of starring in a new stage play called Stories About McAlary.
Insiders reveal that there was a reading of the play last week, though that tidbit was meant to be kept a secret. Hugh is reportedly starring as the tough, heavy-drinking tabloid newspaper columnist Mike McAlary, who was HUGE during 80's & 90's.
In other words, before the Internet!
A pretty heavy role for Hugh, but we know the guy can handle it. He's so ridiculously versatile, he could play a chair and win a Tony.
We just were really hoping for some dancing and singing the next time he stumbled back onto The Great White Way!
Oh well!
