The Host might be getting some mixed reviews right about now, but that's okay!

We know a few things will come of it: it'll probably get a sequel because of Stephenie Meyere's fans, and it'll put both Saoirse Ronan AND Max Irons on the map!

Sure, Saoirse has had some amazing turns in movies so far, and has a bunch of good ones prepped, but Max is pretty new — and that's why we're so pumped to see him as King Edward IV (above) in the new STARZ series The White Queen!

Coming in August, we're told it's a riveting portrayal of one of the most dramatic and turbulent times in English history:

The Martian Chronicles Of Narnia Is Coming!

the martian chronicles film in the works

After Battle: Los Angeles, maybe it's not such a bad idea for Hollywood to take us to another planet…

Sources are saying that Paramount has picked up the rights to Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles, which is a classic short story collection from the 1940s about humans attempting to start colonies on Mars.

The film is being is produced by Predators/I, Robot producer John Davis, and the stories will deal with the following:

- Humans attempting to settle Mars and Martians attempting to fight against them

- Human colonization of Mars, followed by a nuclear war that causes most humans to leave the planet and go back to Earth

- Humans becoming the "new Martians"

Previously, The Martian Chronicles was adapted as a mini-series in 1980 by NBC/The BBC.

Paramount hasn't found a writer for the film yet, so hopefully they'll find someone who can do justice to the original short story collection AND the mini-series.

Maybe they should just have James Cameron write this. The subject matter is pret-ty similar to Avatar…or perhaps we should say that Avatar's subject matter is similar to this…

Are U excited for this new adaptation of The Martian Chronicles? Who would U like to see sign on to write and/or direct???

kennedy family kills kennedys mini series

Over the weekend, we reported that the History Channel mini-series The Kennedys had been scrapped.

Now, more details have emerged regarding History's decision to pull the plug on the mini-series, and it looks like a big influence was the Kennedy family.

According to a source, members of the Kennedy family have been lobbying A&E Television Networks (AETN) to kill the mini-series since its announcement back in Dec 09.

The source said that Caroline Kennedy was instrumental in getting the project scrapped, as was Kennedy scion Maria Shriver, who was quite vocal to execs with regards to her feelings about the project.

At this point, The Kennedys will still find life in Canada and other foreign countries, and producers Asylum Entertainment and Muse Entertainment are being given permission to shop the miniseries around in the U.S.

At the moment, it looks like Showtime is a top U.S. candidate.

After all this drama, we're def curious to check this series out!

Why do U think the Kennedys are so avidly against this mini-series airing?

Salma Hayek and ABC are putting together an eight-hour mini-series based on the Wicked book, which also inspired the Broadway play.

Band of Brothers writer Erik Jendersen is writing the script, which should ensure it'll be a thoroughly intense mini-series!

Given the continuing popularity of the Wicked play, we're thinking this project could def be a winner for ABC and Mrs. Hayek.
