Miley Cyrus may stick her tongue out at this, but she might be doing so in disgust!
In good news, California is officially raising their minimum wage to $9! Great news, right?
Well, the Employment Policies Institute seems to have a problem with people getting paid more and being able to afford rent and feed their families.
In fact, they've used Miley's image above in an ad that's against this wage hike, a billboard which implies that one of the reasons Miley's "twerked off" is that minimum wage is being raised.
According to research director of the Institute, Michael Saltsman, Miley has not been approached on her feelings towards the wage increase:
"EPI purchased the rights to use the photograph, but we haven't checked with Miley on whether the minimum wage increase is the real reason she's 'twerked off.' We're not attributing this particular point of view to her — we're just using a fun turn-of-phrase to jump-start a conversation about the unintended consequences of wage mandates."
Yeah, we're pretty sure this may cross a line or two, as it appears to be somewhat of an endorsement.
While the Institute mentions that this increase will make teens lose their jobs, they fail to mention that it might help those working minimum wage jobs with families to support.
We'll see if and how Miley responds to all this!
