Prince's untimely death from an apparent drug overdose has prompted officials in Minnesota to address the opiate prescription problem in the state.
According to TMZ, members of the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice met on Saturday and came to the conclusion that prescriptions for opiates are "out of control."
Board members called for stricter regulations and better supervision of doctors who give out painkiller prescriptions.
Although Prince was not mentioned by name, a member did acknowledge that his death had incited a closer look at the problem.
Some board members also concluded that doctors have been relying on opiate prescriptions instead of figuring out less dangerous ways to treat chronic pain conditions that won't result in death.
We'll keep you posted as more information on this reform becomes available.
