Back in November, we heard that The Simpsons writer-producer Tim Long was creating an HBO series for SNL alum Molly Shannon.

Haven't heard news on that project in while, but it looks like Miz Shannon is keeping plenty busy with a children's book she's writing, Tilly the Trickster, which will be released in September.

The book "tells the tale of a feisty, mischievous youngster named Tilly."

Shannon's publisher Abrams Books for Young Readers says that her inspirations for the book were "her childhood, Hollywood roles, and interactions with her children."

Here's what Molly had to say about the book:

"Tilly is an imperfectly perfect role model for young readers. Some kids are just born to make trouble–and also bound to find out how it feels when trouble finds them!"

Sounds like a funny story with heart and some good lessons for children! We approve!

Congrats, Molly! We'll look forward to hearing more when the book is released in September.

It's about time!

The Simpsons writer-producer Tim Long is creating a series for SNL alum Molly Shannon - and it's coming to HBO.

Shannon will play an ex-nun, who leaves the convent and is forced to confront the outside world. The character became a nun after a breakup at 18 and is still is virgin in her early 40s.

Long said:

"It's James Joyce meets Judd Apatow — a female 40-Year-Old Virgin with a huge dollop of Catholic weirdness thrown in." It "will be outrageously funny — it's Molly Shannon, for crying out loud — but it'll also be a serious look at a woman who's 40 but emotionally still in her teens and who needs to get wise very quickly."

We love her! So glad to see Miz Shannon back on TV.

She's a Superstar!

Molly Shannon joined Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes on stage in her debut in the Broadway musical Promises, Promises.

Shannon plays drunken temptress, Marge McDougall who some say has an unforgettable scene with Hayes on stage.

Kristin later tweeted:

Its official: MOLLY SHANNON is a GENIUS! MOLLY is unbelievable.

We love it!

Fans still have time to see Molly on stage as the SNL star has committed to a three month run of the show.

Though Betty White will be joined by alums Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Molly Shannon next week when she hosts SNL, it's really the Golden Girl who is calling the shots on this one.

Betty admits that she was given special veto power if there was anything written she really didn't feel up to doing. When asked about it, she jokingly said she had no intention of doing nudity, but in all serious, there is only one topic she has asked them to steer clear of. She explains:

"I won't do dope jokes. I don't think dope is a joke. That is about the only no."

We agree. Classy lady like Betty shouldn't be taped during her pre-show rituals anyway!
