Even though the first film bombed at the box office, it looks like the series isn't completely dead!
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which starred Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell-Bower, has found new life not as a film sequel, but as a television series!

Constantin Film, the ones who own the rights to the book series written by Cassandra Clare, have hired Ed Decter, who has worked on Helix, Unforgettable, In Plain Sight, and The Client List, as the showrunner!
Head of Constantin film and TV Martin Moszkowicz spoke out about how exciting the prospect of the show is. He said:

Phewwwwwwww! That was a close one!
As you may know, the Mortal Instruments second movie, City of Ashes, was almost axed due to it's under-performance at the box office!!
BUUUUUUUT, the film has been saved and this makes Jamie Campbell-Bower a very happy camper!

The sequel to Mortal Instruments: City of Bones was all set to begin shooting next week! We were even just talking to the cast about getting back to work on City of Ashes!
But production has now been shut down INDEFINITELY following MI's poor performance at the box office last month!
City of Ashes had already signed on Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower to return for the second installment, while Sigourney Weaver was also expected to join the cast!
After only a $58 million take at the box-office for City of Bones though, producers are now wondering if they have a hit on their hands or if they should bail out off this YA franchise altogether!
The executive producer of the flick, Martin Moszkowicz, is now saying that the decision to halt production was not an easy one, but that they are still very much committed to making the second movie. Martin explained:

Swan Lake never looked this hawt!
Lily Collins stunned yet again Tuesday night at The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones premiere in Mexico City.
The actress worked the red carpet for the umpteenth time in a sheer black Michail Sykianakis dress with cleverly placed appliqués that covered up the necessary parts and black Christian Louboutin heels.
Retro-inspired curls and killer plum lip completed Lily's sheerly AH-Mazing premiere number.
We don't know how many premieres are left, but it would be nice to see her stray away from neutral colors and wear something bright or shiny!
What do U think???

Right after The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones premiere in Madrid, Lily Collins and her fellow castmates jetted off to Norway.
For Friday's photocall in Oslo, the actress chose a more somber look, opting for a black McQ by Alexander McQueen cap sleeve tuxedo dress and patent black pumps.
The dress definitely could’ve been tailored to fit her slim figure better. It almost looks like it's hanging off her!
Lily's hair and makeup were a bit lackluster as well, especially after all her other gorge premiere looks.
But thanks to simple gold rings by Dana Rebecca Designs, a bracelet by EF Collection, and her bright smile it's still a strong outfit — just not our favorite.
