Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ new video for Despair is a lot less entomological than their previous vid, Mosquito, the title track from their latest album, for which we are grateful.
Because no matter how awesome the song (and
Mosquito is an AWESOME song), BUGS = EW.
Despair starts with Yeah Yeah Yeahs lead singer Karen O's lovely voice a cappella for almost a full two minutes at first, so don’t turn up your sound or clean out your ears.
They’re just being CREATIVE!
And if you’ve ever wanted to visit the top of the Empire State Building at sunrise, well — YOU’RE WELCOME!
Check it outttttt

It's attack of the mega mosquitos!!!
In Florida, this summer, things are going to get pretty scary!!
Mosquitoes up to 20 times the size of a normal 'squito, will be terrorizing the state!

Ok, so nothing against the song
Mosquito, but mosquitoes are disgusting.
And we know (or desperately hope) that the mosquito used in the making of the
Yeah Yeah Yeahs new music vid was not real because that thing is HUGE!!!!
Also, the fact that it turns a variety of different colors is reassuring. Since we’ve never seen mosquitoes do that in real life. AND it grows an embryo. Yeah.
But mosquitoes aside, the little boy that is ever-present in the corner of the video is absolutely adorable!! Even though we know he’s the host to that terrible nasty bug.
Oh, and the song is pretty rad too, ha!
Ch-ch-check it ouuttt! (above)

Lisa Whelchel may be trying to survive on Survivor: Philippines but she's also fighting for survival in real life!
She has West Nile virus!!
That sounds terrifying!

The CDC has recently released information that there's been an alarming increase in the number of West Nile virus cases this year!
There have been over 1,100 reported cases of the virus, with half of them coming from Texas.
We actually kinda forgot about the West Nile virus since it's out of the news.
It's a good reminder that we should really be taking precautions to help keep us safe from mosquitos, like wearing long clothes at night or using a bug repellant.
West Nile usually causes infection, can cause the West Nile Fever, and, rarely, can cause swelling of the brain!
So it's still a serious
virus, that is very prevalent and can cause some real problems.
Stay away from 'squitos!
