UPDATE: Dozens Injured As Shooter Opens Fire In German Movie Theater — Find Out Why No One Was Killed
UPDATE 3:11 P.M. EST: According to a Telegraph report, the unidentified shooter spoke only broken German and took 17 hostages from the cinema's bathroom before being killed by police. Authorities are currently busy identifying what look to be a bomb vest, a grenade, and two other weapons found on the body, but they do not suspect them to be real or dangerous.
We're really hoping this number doesn't start to rise.
Less than two weeks after 49 people were shot and killed at a gay club in Orlando, Florida, and now reports are coming in that a gunman has injured at least 25 individuals at a movie theater in Germany.
According to multiple reports, a masked man entered the cinema at around 5:30 p.m. local time on Thursday and fired a single shot into the air before throwing tear gas into the crowd.
While there are currently no expected fatalities from the victims, we're hearing the man was killed by SEK — the country's equivalent of America's SWAT — shortly after entering the building.
Luckily, we're hearing the man wasn't actually carrying a real gun thanks to Germany's strict laws, but was in fact using a gas-powered pistol, so the only injuries expected are due to the smoke.
It's amazing what sensible gun laws can do when you don't have corrupt politicians fighting to keep weapons on the streets…
We will continue to update you as this terrifying story develops.
Stay safe out there, everyone.
