Survivor Alum Ethan Zohn Is Training For The NYC Marathon Despite Cancer

Ethan Zohn cancer NYC marathon

This guy really is a Survivor!

We were so sad to hear that reality star Ethan Zohn's Hodgkin's Lymphoma is back after just 20 months, but are happy to hear his re-diagnosis doesn't have him down in the dumps.

Although Ethan admitted feeling angry, scared and even defeated upon learning the disease had crept back into his lungs, he is bravely moving forward with his life.

He already had his first chemo treatment and, fortunately, the side effects have been more mild this time around thanks to a new drug, as he explains:

"With this new drug SGN-35, they aren't nearly as bad as they were just lethargy, nausea, headaches for a little while."

Amazingly, the Survivor alum is STILL training for the New York City Marathon this weekend despite his cancer, continuing:

"Now I'm feeling good and I'm continuing to train for the New York City Marathon."

His goal is to remain positive and stay active, despite his illness. He wants the world to know that cancer does not mean you have to stop living your life, saying:

"I think in the cancer world, the general perception is that there are winners and losers. You either beat cancer and you win – or you don't and you die. But the reality of it is, I did everything in my power to beat cancer, and I did. But it came back. And that's okay, too. I'm not a failure. There are millions of people out there living with cancer and you can still have a fulfilled life. You can go to work, raise a family, charge forward. That's what I'm doing here."

Ethan is thankful for not only his friends and family sticking by his side during this difficult time, but his fans too, adding:

"It's good to know I have them by my side. The best part about going public with this is that I get the support of fans and people out there, too. And I think that really helped last time."

While he doesn't want cancer to define his legacy, it is a part of his life and he hopes to raise more awareness on behalf of others suffering as well, saying:

"I just want to let others who are living with cancer know that I'm right there with them, living each day of my life, hopefully bringing more awareness. It's who I am, and I wanted to stand up for what I believe in."

We believe you can beat this AGAIN too! Good luck throughout the rest of your treatment, Ethan!

Q & A With Dr. J: Moving Forward In Life!

Ever get the feeling that every time you try to move forward in life, you accidentally move backwards instead?

Don't worry because you're not alone!

This week, a reader writes to FitPerez's own professional life coach, Dr. J, for advice on moving forward with their lives, asking:

"Why is it Every Time I do something, I take 2 steps forward and 3 steps back?"

Dr. J says:

Life is full of twists, tweaks and u-turns. Become fabulously forensic. Immediately identify what you're moving toward? Short term, Long term, What are your terms? What is your Calling? Have you ever tried moving side to side? Establish what side you're on. Are You on the side of Progress or are you on the side of Perfection? Or are you____________? Don't equate delay with defeat. Next, do you have a PlayBook? Everyone needs a plan of attack for achievement. Are you running down the field on eggshells, habitually hestiant? Or are you wielding your walk wisely around the bases? Before You embark on your next task, Ask Yourself what disempowering habits are sabotaging your steps. Update your Playbook so you can stay one step ahead and one step closer to your desires.

Need some advice about life? Shoot us an email or ask the doctor himself @AskDocJ on Twitter!
