The world was delighted when X-Men starlet Ellen Page came out on Valentine's Day, but she wasn't the franchise's first openly gay cast member! Not even close!
Ian McKellen, a.k.a. present day Magneto, has been openly gay since 1988!
In the X-Men films, Ian's character fights on behalf of an unjustly disenfranchised group of "mutants." Well, that's no coincidence!
As it turns out, when director Bryan Singer approached the legendary actor and begged him to accept the role, he suggested that Ian view the mutants' plight as a metaphor for what the LGBT community endures in real life!

X-Men: Days of Future Past is in trouble.
No one is really sure why, but First Class director Matthew Vaughn has opted out!
Sources say that 20th Century Fox still wants to release the follow-up to the 2011 blockbuster in the summer of 2014 so they are scrambling to find a replacement.
Luckily, Bryan Singer — the director of the first two installments of the superhero franchise — is already producing. Will he take on the directing responsibilities while Vaughn takes over his producing job?
The first two movies are the BEST, so we certainly hope so!

Sad, sad news.
We are going to have to wait at least another year to see what Michael Bay does with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.
The planned reboot, which was already in pre-production in Vancouver, has been SHUT DOWN by Paramount Pictures because of script problems.
The future of the movie is uncertain too. Some sources say production has simply been pushed back by 10 weeks, but others claim the hiatus is "indefinite."
It doesn't sound like

Oh! He was really good in Inglorious Basterds, so we're definitely optimistic about this!
Actor Michael Fassbender is reportedly in negotiations to star as a young Magneto in Matthew Vaughn's X-Men: First Class!
He even sort of looks like Ian McKellan!
We think he and James McAvoy will certainly make a SEKSI pair of mutants!
