Shopaholics Suffer From Narcissistic Behavior Disorders

Are you or someone you know a shopaholic? Then you're probably a narcissist.
Psychoanalyst/psychiatrist Arnold Goldberg explains those who feel the need to shop til they drop "have disturbances in their self-esteem regulation" and "often exhibit what we call narcissistic personalities; they are very grandiose, they show off, they’re very self involved".
Goldberg recalled one of his patients who went on frequent shopping binges. He said:
"My patient who did periodic shopping would spend incredible amounts of money, go deep into debt, and said she’d be pulled into a Gucci or a Prada store and would go into something like a dissociated state … and find herself buying, buying, buying; afterwards feel, 'What in the world happened to me'?"
So what's the cure?
Like any other addiction, there's behavioral treatment therapy and groups like Shopaholics Anonymous.
