The truth has made its way to the surface.

Apparently, the Nelson Mandela inspired clothing line, 466/64 Fashion, has no ties to Mr. Mandela whatsoever.

WTF?!?

According to the president of Cadence Communications, James Cecil, who represents the Nelson Mandela Foundation in North America

Nelson Mandela's Clothing Line Debuts In New York

As we previously mentioned, a new fashion line inspired by Nelson Mandela's 46664 charity, which refers to his prisoner number when he was incarcerated in 1964, has been in the works.

And now, the collection has made its debut in New York. Celebrating Mandela's 94th birthday on Wednesday, the brand launched the new line, consisting of bold colors and prints across chinos, dresses, denim, blazers, t-shirts, and knitwear for men, women, and children.

South African Consul General George Monyemangene spoke of the brand, saying:

"We couldn’t find a better day to have this launch than on Nelson Mandela International Day."

The brand is expected to expand to 23 countries by 2013 and will plan to increase funds and create jobs in South Africa's textile industry.

Beautiful clothes with a worthy cause? What a wonderful way to celebrate the work of an inspiring man!

Michelle Obama Stays Fashionable While In South Africa

michelle-obama-in-south-africa.jpg

Michelle Obama paid a visit with Nelson Mandela's wife Graca Machel to the Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg, South Africa, earlier today.

And for the special occasion, MObama wore a gorgeous coral Narciso Rodriguez silk shantung jacket and skirt.

We’re also loving her floral top.

Overall, a win for Mrs. Obama for looking both professional and stylish.

Now this is a clothing line we can get behind.

Nelson Mandela's AIDS charity 46664 announced on Tuesday they plan to launch their own international fashion brand this year.

The line will be called 46664 Apparel, after the number Mandela wore will he was in jail, and will roll out in August at the label's very own concept store in Johannesburg, South Africa.

46664 Apparel will include everything from t-shirts to couture garments and will eventually include pieces created by international and national guest designers.

Pretty cool.

Naomi Talks About Serving The Community In Style

naomi-campbell-did-community-service-in-couture.jpg

Back in March of 2007, Naomi Campbell put on quite the show while doing her court ordered 200 hours of community service in New York.

The supermodel wore everything from Christian Louboutin heels, a Ralph Lauren jacket and even a gorgeous Dolce & Gabbana gown — and now we know why!

In an interview with Grazia, Naomi finally came clean about her community service couture:

G: But you wore couture every day, right?

N: Yep! Why shouldn’t I have done? Why should they expect me to go looking bedraggled or something?

G: When did you decide to dress like that?

N: I didn’t, it wasn’t planned at all. I decided on the day and I still gave them what they wanted, it didn’t stop me from doing what I had to do though.

G: You even did the work in the heels?

N: No. Not the heels! I wore boots – only heels when I was arriving and leaving!

After all is said and done, Naomi ended up auctioning off her wardrobe to benefit Nelson Mandela's charity, so we can't complain.

Naomi Campbell's Friend Resigns From Charity Over Diamonds!

The man who held on to Naomi Campbell's "dirty-looking stones" for 13 years has suddenly stepped down from his position at the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund

The charity released a statement regarding Jeremy Ratcliffe's resignation, saying:

"Mr. Ratcliffe regrets his omission to inform the chairperson, CEO and the rest of the board of trustees of the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund of his receipt of the uncut diamonds until now. Mr. Ratcliffe has stated that he acted in what he sincerely believed to be in (sic) the best interest of the charity."

Jeremy says he never did anything with the uncut diamonds because he didn't want the charity involved with any illegal activity.

So why step down now after 13 years, especially since he didn't do anything with them — or so he says.

Sounds shady.

Thoughts???
