This is a perfect example of why we wish people wouldn't carry guns around!
A 56-year-old man with a permit to carry a concealed firearm accidentally allowed it to fire into his butt during a screening of The Bourne Legacy in a Sparks, Nevada movie theater.
Nobody else was hurt during the incident on Tuesday night, but we imagine some people were pretty terrified when they heard that pop!
He reportedly stood up, apologized for the scare and ran out to seek medical treatment.
Cops arrived on the scene after the suspect had disappeared and later found him at the hospital. He explained that the weapon fell out of his pocket and discharged when it hit the floor.
We understand he was carrying it for protection, but does anyone else see a problem here?
What if this clumsy guy dropped his gun and it fired off into the direction of an innocent bystander? This story could have turned tragic real fast!
For now, the unnamed man is cooperating with police, but may eventually be charged with illegally discharging a firearm. At the very least, he should have that permit to carry a concealed weapon revoked!

Orange you glad her comeback is going so well? Ha!
As it has been so eloquently put in the past, when one has mo' money, one has mo' problems. No one knows this mantra better than Lindsay Lohan, who can't seem to go a whole week without someone coming after her $$$.
This week, a vengeful tanning salon is hot on LiLo's heels, insisting that she cough up the $40K she owes the establishment for keeping her looking so sun-kissed.
The thing is
Unfortunately, it looks like Newt Gingrich isn't going anywhere…for now.
The GOP contender had two back-to-back losses against his foe Mitt Romney with his most recent being at the Nevada caucus over the weekend.
But, Newt ain't giving up just yet.
Like a good dad, Flavor Flav is defending his daughter after she was arrested over the weekend when a family dispute turned violent.
19-year-old Dazayna Drayton was taken into custody when she allegedly punched her father during an altercation she was having with her step-brother. When Flav tried to stop the fight, that's when she apparently clocked him.
The police were called, but Flav says he tried to stop them from taking her in. Because Nevada law requires that police arrest anyone who's been accused of striking a family member, they had to take her in handcuffs.
These two will be going away for a looooooong time.
Yesterday, 24-year-old Logan McFarland and 25-year-old Angela Atwood were arrested after a week-long Bonnie-and-Clyde-like crime spree.
Logan and Angela were finally spotted "walking along a country road by a rancher in his plane," and when police caught up to them, they simply said "we give up."
According to police, the couple's several crimes include stealing a car in Utah, killing an elderly couple in their home, and shooting a woman in Nevada while stealing her car.
Before their arrest, Logan and Angela were able to briefly evade police during a "high-speed car chase"…but they were caught soon after that.
Enjoy jail, U two!
During the National Championship Air Races and Air Show in Reno, Nevada yesterday, a pilot lost control of his vintage plane during a race, only to crash into box seats next to a grandstand, leaving 50 injured, and sadly, as of today, nine dead.
According to authorities, seven of the victims died on the tarmac, including the pilot, and the remainder succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.
Check out footage from the crash (above). WARNING - although not graphic, this is not easy to watch.
Although the pilot, Jimmy Leeward, lost his life in the crash, along with many others, more than one spectator have come forward to call him a hero for avoiding the grandstand.
Ben Cissell explains:
"I think that pilot in the last seconds pulled up because he saw the bleachers and saved about 200 or 300 others. I don't mean this as a disrespect to others injured, but that pilot is a hero. He saved a lot of lives today. It could have been much worse."
And Kim Fonda agrees:
"I closed my eyes and said, 'I am going to die now'. I was literally preparing to die and then he jerked the plane away and it landed like 25 feet from us. I want his family to know he was a hero."
So unbelievably tragic. And although our hearts go out to all those injured, as well as the loved ones of those who were lost in the crash, we are also very grateful that no more lives were lost - especially when this could have been a much more catastrophic accident.
May those nine people R.I.P.
