Can YOU Sing??? These Folks Can!

Filed under: AdeleCan YOU Sing???Catey ShawCharlie Puth

Wow. Wow. Wow. This keeps getting bigger and better!

We got soooo many entries for our Adele Someone Like You cover competition! It took us a couple of days to go through them all to decide on the winner and honorable mentions!

There were a lot of really good vocalists. But we were looking for more than just someone who could sing well.

We were looking for someone that brought something special to the table, whether it be a really unique voice just singing acapella or a cool take on the song.

Our winning entry did just that!

Congratulations to Charlie Puth and Emily Luther!

We were BLOWN AWAY by your entry (above)!

Not only was it an excellent choice to reimagine the song as a duet, but they also did an inspired new arrangement too! Such a beautiful arrangement and even more beautiful harmonizing!

Exquisite!

But they're not the only winners in our cover competition! Check out the 2nd place winner and all the very worthy honorable mentions (as well as our thoughts on each)…. after the jump!

And thank you again so very much to everyone who entered! We watched every single submission and appreciate you all!

Keep following your dreams!

Ozzy "Disgusted" By Record Execs

Ozzy Osbourne is not happy with record labels, and says that he's "disgusted" by the way new artists are treated by their record labels.

He thinks that music executives are mistreating up-and-coming stars by promising fame in exchange for financial rights to their name and music.

The Prince of Darkness eloquently says:

"Nowadays? F**king hell! The other day, I was informed that new bands who’ve just signed with their record companies
have to give away part of their publishing (rights), part of their gig money, part of their concessions…What the f**k is going on ? I wouldn’t like to be one of the bands of today. It’s f**king disgusting the way they treat the bands…"

He also insults the current digital state of the music industry, adding:

"It’s changed so much. Someone can be the biggest thing in the world, and then the next month you go ‘What happened to them?’ Record sales are no more - they aren’t selling records that much any more, because of this downloading thing."

Well unfortunately, this whole "downloading thing" is here to stay. But, we do agree that artists should have more power when it comes to owning to their music!
