Modern medicine is continuing to turn the tide against cancer.
A vaccine used to treat breast and ovarian cancer has shown very promising results in a small clinical trial involving 26 women.
While the vaccine allowed most of the women about two extra months before the cancer progressed, it completely cured one lucky lady.
"In January, it will be four years [for her]," a study researcher told sources of the patient who has no X-ray evidence of cancer after receiving the vaccine.
Although the preliminary study funded by the National Cancer Institute is giving scientists encouragement, they admit "a lot of work needs to be done to prove whether this can be effective [for more patients]."
Sounds like the work will be well worth it if they have already saved one woman's life! We wish these researchers the best of luck as they continue to work toward saving more!
