Well, what else are they gonna do?!

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. are sticking with Peter Jackson and The Hobbit producers, amid the flick's animal welfare debacle.

As reported earlier, animal wranglers claim 27 animals died during filming. Even Seth MacFarlane has gotten in on the mix!

But Peter Jackson has denied the claims publicly on Facebook and now it's the studios' turn.

New Line and WB issued a joint statement, which reads:

We were positively CRUSHED earlier this summer when we discovered that Jim Carrey had dropped out of a proposed Dumber and Dumber To over conflicts with New Line and Warner Brothers, with co-star Jeff Daniels even confirming it to be true!

But now, the actor, currently starring on Newsroom, has revealed that

Either way, we're just excited to be able to scream again:

That's right, New Line Cinema has apparently greenlit a live action reboot of the video game turned film Mortal Kombat, to be written by Oren Uziel and directed by Kevin Tancharoen, AKA the pair who reignited interest in the martial arts flick by creating an unauthorized, eight-minute short film called Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, which quickly went viral and spawned a 10-episode web series!

Hey! You can't say they didn't earn the jobs, after all the hard work they clearly put in!

However, we will certainly be interested to see if people are still interested in this franchise.

Who knows? It could be fun!
