Neil Patrick Harris, And Patti LuPone, And Stephen Colbert! Oh My!

nph stephen colbert patti lupone join company cast

We SO wish we could be there for this! What an incredible cast!

Between April 7-9, Company will be playing for the New York Philharmonic with a wonderful cast including Neil Patrick Harris, Patti LuPone, Anika Noni Rose, Martha Plimpton, AND Stephen Colbert!

The musical concert is being directed/produced by Lonny Price, who directed last season's SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert!, and it's being conducted by "Sondheim specialist" Paul Gemignani.

The musical's NY-based story "follows five married, once-married, and soon-to-be-married couples and their mutual friend, Robert (NPH), a bachelor who has been unable to connect in a long-term relationship."

The show has an award-winning history on Broadway, and was most recently revived at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre in 2006.

Stephen Colbert and NPH sharing the stage??? We'd LOVE to see that!!!

NPH To Star In Company

We can't get enough of him!

Neil Patrick Harris has signed on to star in Stephen Sondheim's Company, a musical about a bachelor, his love life and his crazy married friends. It will be presented by the New York Philharmonic in April.

Of course, Harris will play Robert (aka Bobby), an un-pin-downable single man celebrating his 35th birthday. It's similar to his character Barney on How I Met Your Mother.

NPH said:

“I think one could see Bobby as a bit of a playboy, a sort of serial dater without much behind it. I don’t know that Barney has the deep-seated desire to couple up like Bobby probably does. But then again, Bobby doesn’t have to respond to laugh tracks.”

Performances will run from April 7th-9th and will be produced and directed by Lonny Price.

And Neil is almost as excited to do it as we are!

He added:

Sondheim fills "every beat and note and moment with some intention. It just allows the performer a great opportunity to mine as deep as they choose. My day job requires a shallowness that will be fun to play against.”

Ha. Can't wait!
