Sake Is Rising!

Ty Ku sake pic

If asked, the common man would probably say they like sake. If asked specifically for a TYPE of sake, they'd probably say whatever they serve at their favorite sushi joint.

Thanks to Ty Ku Premium Sake & Spirits, that's all about to change. The brand is catching national attention and was most recently profiled in The Atlantic, which calls the taste "delicate and full of flavor."

Although the company is based in New York, the liqueur is produced in Japan with the help of two small sake breweries, so the taste is authentic. And unlike most sake, it doesn't need to be heated to go down smooth.

With three distinct flavors, there is something here for everyone to enjoy. Here is what New York Times editor Clay Risen had to say about them:

"The silver has pear notes and a slight citrus acidity on the tongue. The black is richer, with peach and vanilla in the nose and less citrus on the tongue. The white, easily the best sake I've ever had (though, disclaimer: that's not saying much), was packed with flavors, including mushrooms, bubble gum, pepper, and licorice. Some say it, too, has some citrus, in the form of grapefruit and lemon, but I didn't detect it."

On top of great taste, this stuff is made out of only four natural ingredients — rice, water, yeast & koji — while being low in calories with only 55 per glass!

Would U give this stuff a shot outside of your favorite sushi restaurant (if you're of age, of course)?

Jerry Sandusky Says 'Allegations Are False' In New Interview

Jerry Sandusky New York Times interview

"These allegations are false. I didn't do those things, " accused child molester Jerry Sandusky said in his most recent interview. "I don't know what else to say."

The former football defensive coordinator at Penn State University, who has been charged with 40 counts of sexually abusing young boys from his Second Mile charity, is denying all wrong doing these days.

In an interview with the New York Times, during which he avoids any eye contact with the reporter or camera, he calls the allegations "unfounded". He also revealed that Joe Paterno, who was informed of the "horseplay" in the PSU locker room showers with boys as young as 10-years-old, never confronted him over the issue.

Pheonix Suns' CEO Comes Out Of The Closet

Rick Welts

Feels nice out here, right? Ha!

Phoenix Suns' president and CEO Rick Welts has revealed that he is gay, making him the highest ranking official in the sports world to do so.

In an interview with the New York Times, Welts said:

"This is one of the last industries where the subject is off limits. Nobody's comfortable in engaging in a conversation."

Unfortunately, his statement rings true, considering not a single active professional athlete has come out of the closet, but with so much support emerging from players and officials we don't think it will be off limits for much longer.

Before discussing his sexual orientation with the media, Welts spoke with NBA commissioner David Stern, WNBA president Val Ackerman, Hall of Famer Bill Russell and Suns guard Steve Nash, all of which gave him overwhelming support.

Nash was actually surprised by Welts admission, not because he was gay, but because he thought everyone already knew Welts was gay! Regardless, Nash admits it's time to take this taboo off of the table, saying:

"I think it's a shame, for all the obvious reasons, that this is a leap that he has to take. Anyone who's not ready for this needs to catch up. … He's doing anyone who's not ready for this a favor."

Absolutely! It's 2011 and if you're still shocked by homosexuality, you've been trapped in something smaller than a closet.

Rick Welts truly is an inspiration for both the sports and LGBT communities. We hope his courage will give others the strength to be honest with the world and be proud of who they are.
