It's never easy for a single parent to raise a child alone.

It's even harder when that child's mother and half brother died of unnatural causes.

On a recent visit to the Bahamas, Larry Birkhead's daughter Dannielynn Birkhead asked her father some tough questions about her late mother Anna Nicole Smith, who is buried in the Bahamas along with her son Daniel Wayne Smith.

Here's what the father said she asked:

“Why did mommy die? And I said ‘You know, the doctors couldn’t fix her. But if you’re good … you’ll get to see her someday.’”

That's an incredibly sad and difficult question to answer, but he definitely answered it the best way anyone possibly could to only a six-year-old girl.

The single dad goes on to say that it has been extremely tough to raise his daughter amidst all of the paparazzi attention she receives, and that she is also a "spitting image of her mother."

The little girl has also made it quite clear to her father that she wants a mother in her life ASAP and reminds him of it almost everyday.

Here's what he said:

“She says, you know, ‘Daddy, why don’t you go get married?’…She made a Mother’s Day card at school and I said, ‘Do you want to make it for your mom in, you know, heaven?’ And she said, ‘Yes.’ But then she brought it to me and she says, ‘You can have it and maybe you can give it to your new wife.”

Despite all the heartbreak it sounds like Larry has got an incredibly smart little girl on his hands who seems to be handling her less than ideal situation as best as anyone could hope for.

We strongly feel this little girl is growing up into someone who will be a truly special person by the time she's a young adult.

And she'll have her dad to thank for making it all possible.
