Jennifer Hudson And Seal To Headline Nobel Peace Prize Concert

The Nobel committee has not revealed who any of the 231 nominees are for the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize, but at least we know who is performing at the annual concert on December 11!

Jennifer Hudson and Seal have been picked to headline the event in Norway, while Norwegian rap group Karpe Diem, singer Susanne Sundfør and Iranian-born Swedish singer-songwriter Laleh will also take the stage at the 19th Annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert.

Last year, Sugarland, David Gray and Jill Scott headlined, along with performances from Janelle Monáe, Bernhoft and the World Youth Choir.

More acts will be announced for the upcoming international event as the date gets closer.

Helen Mirren had the honor of hosting the Nobel Peace Prize concert this past weekend in Oslo, Norway.

For the event, Helen went with a navy blue Alberto Makali gown.

The blue gown with the black, embellished bolero, hugged Mirren in all the right places.

We’re loving this navy silk chiffon gown.

What do U think of Helen’s look?

Wow! WikiLeaks Gets Nobel Peace Prize Nom!

wikileaks founder nominated for nobel peace prize

This sounds like a delightfully controversial choice by the Norwegian Nobel Committee.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange must be excited to learn that his website has been given the tremendous honor of being nominated for the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize.

Here's what legislator Snorre Valen from Norway's Socialist Left Party had to say about his WikiLeaks nomination:

"I think it is important to raise a debate about freedom of expression and that truth is always the first casualty in war. WikiLeaks wants to make governments accountable for their actions and that contributes to peace."

Leading "Nobel-watcher" Kristian Harpsviken doesn't believe WikiLeaks will win the award. Here's what he had to say about it:

"The reason I think it's unlikely is that there has been so much criticism of WikiLeaks, not least how they have handled identification issues of people in the documents. I don't think it quite does the trick."

There certainly has been lots of controversy surrounding WikiLeaks. We were surprised to even see it get nominated!

It'd be making one hell of a statement against censorship if they win the prize.

Do U think WikiLeaks has a chance at winning the Nobel Peace Prize?

Anne Sexes Up The Nobel Peace Prize Concert

Random.

Anne Hathaway took a break from her Love & Other Drugs press tour to host the Nobel Peace Prize concert.

The actress hit the stage in Oslo, Norway wearing a sexy, but elegant gunmetal gray J. Mendel gown.

We like it, and we're sure the crowd did too — especially that slit!

Denzel To Host Nobel Peace Prize Concert

denzelwashingtone.jpg

Pretty impressive, Denzel. Definitely a step up from hosting the Teen Choice Awards (Sorry, Katy Perry!)

Denzel Washington will host the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway, on Dec 11, with support from a lineup of artists, including Florence and the Machine, Colbie Caillat, Herbie Hancock, and Elvis Costello.

Here's what Denzel had to say about his honor:

"I am honored to attend the Nobel Peace Prize Concert this year and participate in this historic and momentous event to help spread the message of global peace."

Here's what Geir Lundestad, secretary of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, had to say about Denzel:

"We're thrilled to have Mr. Washington join us to host this year's Nobel Peace Prize Concert. He is the perfect ambassador for this event, which celebrates peace through music and illuminates the notable contributions of the Nobel laureate."

The 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner will be announced in Oslo on Oct. 8, and the award will be handed out on Dec. 10 as always, which marks the anniversary of prize founder Alfred Nobel's death in 1896.
