We can see it now: designer earplugs for city-dwellers! Ha!

According to a new study, 9 in 10 people who live in a city is exposed to a harmful noise level! Scary!

But honestly, not shocking.

So what is it? The trains? The sirens?

Nope. The headphones used to listen to music at a level OVER those things! Now that's surprising!

"I do think it's a serious problem, there aren't really any other experiences where we would tolerate having nine out of 10 people exposed at a level we know is hazardous. We certainly wouldn't tolerate this with another agent, such as something that caused cancer or chronic disease. Yet for some reason we do for noise."

The study was conducted on 4,500 NYC residents.

That's cray cray! Everyone should invest in noise-canceling headphones so they can lower the volume! Wow!
