Former Best Actor Nominee Joaquin Phoenix Thinks The Oscars Are 'Bullsh*t'

Andddddddd his chances for taking home an Academy Award for his critically acclaimed performance in The Master just plummeted! LOLz!

Joaquin Phoenix doesn't care though, which is kind of admirable. The actor — who made his glorious return to the screen in September after a failed rapping career mockumentary –believes Hollywood's highest honor is "total, utter bullsh*t."

He made his opinion known during a recent interview with highly respected film critic Elvis Mitchell for Interview magazine and explained his position by saying:

"I think it's bulls–t. I think it's total, utter bulls–t, and I don't want to be a part of it. I don't believe in it. It's a carrot, but it's the worst-tasting carrot I've ever tasted in my whole life. I don't want this carrot. It's totally subjective. Pitting people against each other … It's the stupidest thing in the whole world."

Is it really? Or is he just bitter because he was nominated for Walk the Line and lost?

If we take him at his word, then yes, the award really is stupid and he thought so long before he had his chance to take one home. Phoenix revealed he felt "uncomfortable" when he was nominated while continuing:

"It was one of the most uncomfortable periods of my life when Walk the Line was going through all the awards stuff and all that. I never want to have that experience again. I don't know how to explain it — and it's not like I'm in this place where I think I'm just above it — but I just don't ever want to get comfortable with that part of things."

After every Academy voter finds out just how much he despises the Oscars, then maybe he won't. Still, we kinda hope he does because in our minds, talent deserves to be rewarded!

Mitt Romney Tries To Get A Crowd Of Supporters To Chant His Name…And Fails Miserably

Romney/Ryan! Romney/Ryan! Romney…no? Just Ryan? Okay.

That's pretty much what happened to Mitt Romney when he was campaigning outside Dayton, Ohio this past week.

The crowd began chanting Paul Ryan's name, but then the Republican presidential candidate tried to step in and steal some of the glory (above).

In a HIGHlarious turn of events, the crowd didn't seem to like chanting his name very much because they, well, they just didn't. LOLz!

Like every good politician, he pretended to hear what he wanted to. Despite the super awkward silence, Romney quipped, "There we go, that's great!"

Based on the priceless reaction from Joe Scarborough, the Republican host of Morning Joe, the moment was a far cry from "great."

Dog Versions Of Oscar Nominees' Movie Posters

the-help-dog-version-post.jpg

The movie website nextmovie.com has posted a whole bunch of photoshopped movie posters of the Oscar nominees for best picture… and replaced them with dogs!

We would love these movies even more if they were really reshot with all dogs!

That'd be amazing.

But CG would be better because that'd be too many dogs on set.

Anyway, check out some more HIGHlarious posters below.

Hunstman Bows Out! One Less Republican In The Presidential Race!

It's official!

Republican Presidential nominee hopeful Jon Huntsman has pulled out of the race — and has endorsed Mitt Romney!

Is it just us, or is his family/people/whatever standing up there with him wearing the brightest colors ever??

Either way, it's super interesting to see which people begin throwing in the towel after two primaries.

Check out the speech above!

Who will be next??

Here She Is! Miss Emmys 2011, Melissa McCarthy!

Hands down, one of the best moments of last night's show! The pure joy on her face. The camaraderie of these amazing women. If more people in Hollywood were this supportive of each other, imagine how different the world would be!

Imagine how different our world would be! But we digress…

Last night, Melissa McCarthy walked away with the Emmy for Best Actress in a Comedy, after she joined her fellow five nominees onstage for some, shall we say, "pageantry." We're still not entirely sure if this was planned or if Amy Poehler got the ball rolling and everyone just followed along, but either way, these ladies were the HIGHlight of the evening.

And when Melissa won and the room exploded and she started to cry out of shock … we just lost it! We used like fifty Kleenex in a minute and half. Don't act like you didn't too!

Check out Melissa's magical moment in the video (above)!

Bravo to you, girl!
