And The 2013 Tony Award Nominees Are…

bette midler tony nominations

The Tony Award nominee list is out! And it looks like this just might be Cyndi Lauper’s year! Her musical collaboration with Harvey Fierstein, resulting in the new Broadway hit Kinky Boots, is garnering quite the attention with 13 Tony nominations!

What’s more? Tweens are dominating the musical theater awards with 12 nods for Matilda, 10 for Pippin and 9 for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella!

But we’re have to admit we’re a little stumped by the play nominees! While Tom Hanks has got himself a Best Actor in a Play nomination, that list is looking a little empty. Where’s Al Pacino?! As for the ladies, no Bette Midler?!

Ch-ch-check out the full nomination list…AFTER THE JUMP!!!

2013 MTV Movie Awards: We Know The NOMINEES! See The Complete List HERE!!

bradley cooper jennifer lawrence silver linings playbook mtv movie awards 2013 still

The rambunctiously irreverent Rebel Wilson could clip her nails on network TV and we'd still DVR it!

You can imagine, then, how excited we were to watch her announce the nominees for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards this evening!

Django Unchained and Ted both received seven well-deserved nominations each!

The immaculate Jennifer Lawrence and the beautiful Bradley Cooper are early favorites in the Best Performance categories, as if there was any doubt!

No immediate snubs spring to mind, but we're mystified Magic Mike only received one nomination in the Best Shirtless Performance category!

We're happy to see Channing Tatum walk dance away with the award, but we are sad Joe Manganiello, Matthew McConaughey, and Matt Bomer didn't get any recognition for the greatest shirtless ensemble performance in the history of ever!!

Of course, Taylor Lautner might pull of an upset for his seXXXy twirl in Breaking Dawn - Part 2!

We were especially excited to see love spread around to the Oscar snubs: The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, and Pitch Perfect each received several nominations!

See the full list of potential winner and losers…AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Jack The Box Office Giant Slayer Beat Out All The Competition In Theaters This Weekend!

jack slayer box office

Sorry! If you're not an Academy Award nominated film or starring Melissa McCarthy, movie-goers just are NOT interested in watching you this year!

Well, scratch that…sort of!

Although Identity Thief has done so well that after a month of release, it's made $100 million domestically and become 2013's first blockbuster, it was bumped from the number one spot in the weekend box office by none other than Jack the Giant Slayer!

However, even though Bryan Singer's fantasy epic came in on top, it's still considered a financial flop, as it cost nearly $200 million to make and only brought in about $28 million in its premiere weekend!

OUCH!

Of course, it still fared better than The Hangover with college kids 21 and Over, which made $9 million, as well as Ed Harris and David Duchovny's Phantom, which became the 15th worst debut for a film that opened on at least 600 screens!

How bad does that make it?

The submarine thriller was released to 1,100 theaters, yet still only made $465,000!

Again with the OUCH!

In retrospect, we think the team behind Jack should be counting their blessings that they managed to make what they made! It is ROUGH out there!

Ch-ch-check out the full, abysmal box office top ten this weekend….AFTER THE JUMP!!!

There Were Some Warm Bodies Filling Up Seats At Movie Theaters This Weekend…And Not Much Else!

warm bodies box office

Sorry, Jeremy Renner!

The box office reign of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters was short-lived!

But hey! What can you expect when facing up against a much-more-favorably-reviewed Twilight with zombies?!

That's right, Warm Bodies, which stars Jennifer Lawrence's ex Nicholas Hoult and a blonde, emotive Kristen Stewart Teresa Palmer as zombie apocalypse-crossed, brain-eating lovers, opened this weekend with an impressive $20 million - which is $10 million more than ANY other movie made between Friday and Sunday!

Sadly, this included Sylvester Stallone's latest non-Expendables effort, Bullet to the Head, which only raked in about $6.5 million and found itself barely afloat among Best Picture nominees and Jessica Chastain's Mama!

But want to know what's NOT so sad?

Movie 43 lost two-thirds of the already-abysmal ticket sales it managed to snag last weekend, and has fallen out of the top ten…and hopefully, out of our memories FOREVER!

Can we hear a resounding GOOD RIDDANCE from everyone, please?!

LOLz!

But check out which flicks made the box office top ten this weekend…AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Ben Affleck Named OUTSTANDING DIRECTOR For Argo At The DGA Awards! Full List Of Winners HERE!

ben affleck dga awards

Well, we think it's safe to say that the members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences must be kicking themselves right now!

And if they're not, they SHOULD be!

Because after being NOTICEABLY snubbed from the "Best Director" category of the upcoming Academy Awards for his truly magnificent work on Argo, Ben Affleck was named outstanding director for the flick at the 65th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards last night in El Lay, beating out Kathryn Bigelow for Zero Dark Thirty, Tom Hooper for Les Miserables, Ang Lee for Life of Pi and Steven Spielberg for Lincoln!

But what's most telling - at least to us - about the win is that it marks the THIRD time since the DGA Awards started in 1948 that its 15,000 members have voted in this category for a nominee that has been up for the Oscar!

Frankly, between this and the Golden Globe, we're just glad to see that he's being recognized for his outstanding work!

It's MORE than deserved, Ben!

And we think VERY telling of how the Academy might vote for your flick in the categories for which it HAS been nominated!

But only time will confirm that!

Check out the rest of the winners from last night's DGA Awards…AFTER THE JUMP!!!
