Details Revealed On New Villain In Spider-Man Reboot
We totally called it!
Last week, a new villain in the Spider-Man reboot was announced, with the name Van Atter, and nobody seemed to know if he was a brand new villain OR if he was somehow a pre-existing character.
We said the villain would have some sort of connection to a character that already exists in the Spider-Man universe, and we were correct!
Slumdog Millionaire actor Irrfan Khan will play Nels Van Adder, a character who has been very briefly mentioned in the comics as an employee of Norman Osborn/Green Goblin's company, Oscorp Industries.
As the story goes, Osborn tested his Goblin serum on Van Adder, which drove him insane and turned him into a "red demon goblin" named Proto-Goblin!
Here's what Khan had to say about his role:
"He's a character who, I think, was not in the comics or perhaps a minor character. I've read some pages, but the whole script hasn't been made available to me."
And there you have it! The new villain in the Spider-Man reboot is Proto-Goblin!
