She wants us to kick off the new year in style — so listen up! Here are some of her favorite NYE recipes!
The Glamorous Star Cake:
Lucious Lemon Cake
2 ½ cups cake ﬂour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ sticks (12 tablespoons)
unsalted butter, softened
1 ½ cups sugar
2 teaspoons grated lemon zest
4 large egg whites plus 1 large
1 cup whole milk
½ teaspoon pure lemon extract
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray two 8-inch round cake pans with nonstick spray. Sift the ﬂour, baking powder, and salt together; set aside.
Beat the butter on medium-high speed until pale and ﬂu#y. Add the sugar and lemon zest and continue to beat until well combined. Add the egg whites, followed by the egg, and beat until fully combined.
Mix together the milk, lemon extract, and vanilla extract in a cup. Reduce mixer speed to low. Add half of the ﬂour mixture to the butter mixture, followed by the milk mixture, and ﬁnally the remainder of the ﬂour. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and give the batter one ﬁnal stir. Divide the batter between the two pans. Smooth the tops of the cakes with a rubber spatula and bake for 38–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool in pans for 15–20 minutes. Wrap each layer in plastic wrap and freeze for an hour.
