A Columbus, Ohio police officer fatally shot a 13-year-old boy he was trying to detain after responding to an armed robbery report.
According to a statement from the Columbus Division of Police, 8th grader Tyree King "pulled a gun from his waistband" when officers attempted to take him and another male into custody on Wednesday night.
Officers investigating the robbery were told by a male victim that a group of people approached him demanding money — one of which reportedly had a gun.
Cops said they were attempting to speak with three people matching the descriptions of the suspects when two of them fled on foot.
