Homeless Polar Bear Wanders Through London!

Filed under: Music MinuteInspirationSad SadBearPolar Bear

Awww this is beary beary sad!!

But, what a simple, effective campaign attempting to reduce Arctic drilling…

The above Greenpeace video features an aimless, homeless Arctic Polar Bear forced out from her chilly, northern habitat due to money-hungry oil corporations and their effect on climate change.

The bear wanders through London's streets with Radiohead's Everything In Its Right Place ominously playing in the background.

Thom Yorke recently addressed the issue of our climate's precarious future, stating:

"We have to stop the oil giants pushing into the Arctic. An oil spill in the Arctic would devastate this region of breathtaking beauty, while burning that oil will only add to the biggest problem we all face, climate change."

So, so true. It's redicuouls to imagine how much money is being poured into an ultimately devastating source of energy, when it could be used to discover new, renewable ways to provide safe, clean energy for our already sick planet…

Kevin Costner Beats Stephen Baldwin In Court

Kevin Costner wins lawsuit from Stephen Baldwin

If lawsuits were decided by a popularity contest, Stephen Baldwin never stood a chance against Kevin Costner.

Luckily, Stephen's allegations that Costner screwed him out of a major business deal with BP were sorted out by a jury. Unfortunately for Alec Baldwin's brother, he still lost!

Stephen wanted $17 million for being

Dolphins Dying All Over Texas!

dolhpin-dying-off-texas.jpg

They're dying off the coast of Texas, not like on the plains or something.

That'd be weird.

This is just sad and true though. Over 120 dolphins have died off the coast of Texas.

It's so unusual that a federal agency has actually launched an investigation

It's On! Kevin Costner's Courtroom Showdown With Stephen Baldwin Has Begun!

Costner Baldwin lawsuit trial begins

It's day two of the New Orleans trial between Kevin Costner and Stephen Baldwin over lost profits from an oil company deal.

Baldwin sued Costner at the end of 2010 because he felt that the Waterworld actor duped him into selling his stake in Costner's company that helped clean up oil spills. After selling off his 10% share, BP bought up the company's machines for $52 million and Baldwin thinks Costner intentionally forced him out to make more money!

We're not sure what's true, but Costner has

New Zealand Oil Spill Penguins Released Back Into The Wild

Remember that big oil tanker that spilled in New Zealand?

Well, a whole bunch of penguins were released back into their natural habitat after the oil spill was finally cleaned up.

The group of happy birds waddled back toward the ocean to the cheers of a crowd.

What a happy ending for such a terrible oil spill.

Check out the above video to see the happy homecoming.

Lady GaGa Is Larger Than Life

Visionaire 61 Larger Than Life Lady GaGa American Oil Spill Mermaid

But this isn't just something her little monsters and critics say.

Visionaire 61 just released their largest issue yet. How large? 5 X 7 feet…

And to cover their Guinness World Record breaking issue, they chose Lady GaGa.

Being the Larger Than Life covergirl, GaGa represents a larger than life issue. Interpretations will of course vary, but the oily mermaid with patriotic hair will most likely convey to many the American oil spill (and we're not just talking about the BP disaster).

It's a high fashion statement, Inez and Vinoodh style.

Will The Oil Spill Affect Our Favorite Time Of The Year?

turtle laying eggs

It's turtle nesting season!!!!!!

Much like the puppy bowl, turtle nesting is an adorable event we look forward to all year.

Mother turtles off the gulf cost don't realize that their batch of little darlings are our key to finding out to what extent the BP oil spill affected the gulfs wildlife.

So far the news has been good.

As of May 24, 155 Kemp turtle's nests had been spotted on Texas shores — more than in all of last year and more than had been counted by that day in 2009 and 2008. The same is true for some other sea turtle species, although they have just started to nest so it might be too early to have confidence in those numbers.

And because sea turtles don't reach reproductive age for at least a decade, the full effects of the oil spill might not be known for years.

Some scientists fear that turtles born this season might have reproductive or health issues. Only time will tell.

For now all we can do is wait for some cute baby turtles to hatch!
