Lady GaGa RULES Social Media Sites!

lady-gaga-number-one-most-popular-artist-according-to-social-media-chart

It's been happening for the past years, probably without your realizing it, but…

GaGa Nation has dominated the inter-webz! And in a HUGE way!

According to a chart run by Groovecount - which tracks subjects' popularity on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. - our beloved Lady GaGa is the number one most popular artist on-line, with nearly 27 million Facebook fans and 7.8 million followers on Twitter!

On the worldwide version of the chart, she is followed by Eminem, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, and Michael Jackson!

And we doubt that those numbers are going down anytime soon!

If anything, they're only growing!

Congratulations, bb!

This is absolutely HIGHlarious!

Check out this AMAZING new video (above) from James van der Beek, who is FINALLY cashing in on the internet popularity of an animated .gif that features his character from Dawson's Creek breaking down in tears - by launching his own website that offers his re-enactments of popular emoticons called JamesVanDerMemes.com!

There's even a new 10 year anniversary Dawson crying one!

We're obsessed! This one is pretty on-par with the Pacey-Con video!

Billboard Embraces The Internet With Launch Of "Social 50"

billboard launches social 50 chart

Innerested in supporting your favorite artists, but low on cash? Now you'll be able to do it without shelling out $9.99 for their new albums!

Today, Billboard launches the Social 50, which is a chart that measures an artist's popularity based on activity on social networks.

The chart will be released weekly, and rankings will be influenced by friends, fans, and followers on social networking sites, as well as artist page views, weekly song plays, and measurement of the ratio of page views to fans.

Artists on the debut version of the chart include Rihanna in the #1 spot, followed by Eminem, Justin Bieber, Lady GaGa, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry as well.

The Biebs and GaGa, eh? Could WE perhaps be having an influence on this chart? LOLs.

Here's what Billboard Editorial Director Bill Werde had to say about the new chart:

“We continue to adapt the way we chart the changing landscape of music. The Social 50 is yet another step in the evolution of Billboard and an important response to our changing times.”

We'll be innerested to see who makes the cut after the chart's first week in operation.

Rihanna must be happy to see herself in the top spot! Nice little consolation prize after the weak debut of her new album.

Will U follow Billboard's Social 50 chart?
