Could You Be Allergic To Wine??

Wine Allergy

Oh no please do not let this be the case — we just CAN'T be allergic to one of the best things on Earth!

And yet, many people are: wine allergies are real, and can be mistaken for other problems!

A new German study sent out questionnaires to thousands of people living in a wine-producing region of western Germany.

Of the 950 people who then filled it out, almost 25 percent of the group reported some mild signs of alcohol intolerance!!

This included flushed or itchy skin, a runny nose, diarrhea, and a rapid heartbeat.

So what's the deal?

Well, wine has proteins from grapes, bacteria, and yeast, as well as sulfites and other organic compounds — any one of those may cause an allergic-like reaction. Not to mention, a specific type of protein allergen called "LTP" is found in the skins of grapes, which makes red wine more likely to cause a problem. White wine is fermented without the grape skins.

As long as your symptoms a mild, you don't really have to give up wine — but hey, there are alternatives like switching to white wine, or TY KU sake, which is made out of rice and avoids grapes altogether.

Being severely allergic to wine would be a fate worse than death!

Kirstie Alley Sued Over Weight-Loss Product Scam

Filed under: Legal MattersKirstie AlleyDietsLosing it!

kirstie-alley-sued-wieght-loss-suplement.jpg

Kirstie Alley is in a bit of legal trouble.

We're not sure how legit the claim is, but a woman named Marina Abramyan is suing Kirstie for allegedly lying about losing 100 pounds using the diet supplement Organic Liaison.

She is arguing that Kirstie lost all her weight through a low-calorie diet mixed with all the exercise she got while on DWTS instead of just from taking the supplement.

She also claimed that the product doesn't work as advertised by QVC and Alley's testimonials.

We're not sure if she actually expected to be able to sit on her couch and take a supplement and lose 100 pounds.

We are pretty sure though that there's always fine print that says diet supplements only work along with "proper diet and exercise."

Kirstie hasn't responded to the allegations yet.

We really don't think Kirstie has much to worry about.

The Dirtiest Fruits And Veggies

Apples Dirty

Do you ever want to just grab a piece of fruit or some veggies and run out the door?

You better take the time to wash them first!

Our fears are correct: fruits and vegetables are the dirties mofos in the stores! Scary!

Here's the list of the worst offenders:

APPLES
CELERY
BELL PEPPERS
PEACHES
STRAWBERRIES
NECTARINES
GRAPES
SPINACH
CUCUMBERS
BLUEBERRIES
POTATOES
LEAFY GREENS
GREEN BEANS

Couple this with the fact that the average American eats over 100 pounds of fresh produce a year, that shizz is nasty!

Unless you clean them, of course!

Here's what the EWG (the non-profit that does the testing) president has to say:

“The explosive growth in market share for organic produce in recent years testifies to a simple fact that pesticide companies and the farmers who use their products just can’t seem to grasp: people don’t like to eat food contaminated by pesticides. Our shopper’s guide to pesticides in produce gives consumers easy, affordable ways to eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables while avoiding most of the bug killers, fungicides and other chemicals in produce and other foods.

“This year’s guide will also give new parents pause. Government scientists have found disturbing concentrations of pesticides in some baby foods. And the U.S. Department of Agriculture has found weed killers widespread in finished tap water. Environmentalists have had important successes in forcing pesticides that presented unacceptably high dietary risks off the market. The latest USDA tests show we have much more work to do.”

One of the better solutions to this would be to buy your produce locally, from farms that do not use pesticides!

In the end, though, this is less about something you're doing wrong as a consumer, and more about the producers using harmful products to get bigger bounties.

Though, we could be speaking louder about it!!
