That was fast.

Olympic runner Oscar Pistorius, who shot his girlfriend to death on Valentine's Day 2013, will leave prison and move to house arrest next week.

A parole board at the prison where the 28-year-old was serving a five year sentence for manslaughter made the decision after an initial ruling to release the athlete in August was cancelled.

According to South Africa's Department of Corrections, the board "approved the placement of offender Oscar Pistorius under correctional supervision as from 20 October 2015."

Well, it looks like the scales of justice are about to tilt in a controversial way!

Oscar Pistorius, the former Olympic athlete convicted of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013, might soon be getting out of jail!

Back in October, Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison for "culpable homicide," which is a South African law somewhat similar to manslaughter here in the United States.

The 28-year-old athlete killed Steenkamp on Valentine's Day, 2013, in their home, claiming he thought an intruder was in the bathroom instead of his girlfriend.

South African law dictates that Pistorius must serve at least one-sixth of his sentence, which would be ten months' time.

The parole board is now recommending that Pistorius be released on August 21, 2015 — ten months to the day after he was sentenced in the case.

What do U think — should Pistorius face more punishment after being found guilty of killing Steenkamp?

Oscar Pistorius Might Not Get An Early Release From Prison Because Monitoring Tags Can NOT Be Placed On His Prosthetic Legs

Oscar Pistorius might not be able to apply for parole because of his prosthetic legs!

Just last month, Oscar Pistorius was sentenced to 5 years in prison for shooting and killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. However, the former sprinter was hoping to appeal for parole after serving 10 months behind bars.

Unfortunately for Oscar, sources are saying that wont be possible because officers would NOT be able to attach monitoring ankle bracelets to his removable prosthetic legs.

Prison officials have reportedly told the double amputee that he would not qualify for the monitoring system due to his disability, and under South African law electronic bracelets may not be placed on the wrist because they are too easy to remove.

A source has already confirmed this, saying:

Oscar Pistorius: Verdict Is In & He's Going To Prison — For 5 Years!

And it's done.

Oscar Pistorius has just received five years for the death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

Though Pistorius was convicted of culpable homicide, he was ultimately cleared of murder. Under South African law, the once celebrated athlete will have to serve at least one-sixth of his sentence — 10 months — before he can ask to be considered for parole. The judge also gave Pistorius a three-year suspended sentence for a firearms charge.

Oscar insisted throughout the entire case, sometimes even through tears, that it was a horrible mistake when he shot Reeve in 2013 on Valentine's Day. He had thought she was an intruder, so the the double-amputee sprinter grabbed his gun and shot at her through the bathroom door.

We're hearing the usually emotional Pistorius remained stoic and calm during his sentencing.

We have a feeling his expression is going to change in the next 10 months.
