Go Team Human!
Looks like the IBM trivia computer Watson has only tied one of his human opponents on Jeopardy, instead of squashing them like puny bugs.
Which is kind of a relief.
Also a relief is the fact that Watson's on stage appearance is just a representation of him, and that the actual monstrosity of a computer is in a different location, too large to participate.
The relief comes in the fact that we won't be waking up having Watson staring over us at night, globe spinning, confidence levels at 97% in our destruction!
Though, I guess we should worry that wherever it is, it waits. First Jeopardy victory, then the WORLD. LOLz!
All joking aside, this little experiment is completely inneresting to us! Not only are the human contestants stepping up to the challenge, but it's absolutely uncanny that a computer is holding its own and with a delicate voice.
Here's a very basic description on how Watson works:
"IBM trumpets Watson, which has been in development for years and has the processing power of 2,800 "powerful computers," as a major advancement in machines' efforts to understand human language. The computer receives clues through digital texts and then buzzes in against the two other "Jeopardy!" contestants like any other player would. It juggles dozens of lines of reasoning at once and tries to arrive at a smart answer."
Kind of amazing, isn't it? You can catch the continuation of Watson on Wednesday night's Jeopardy!
Humans: good luck bbs!
Who are U rooting for??
