He was also buried in Palo Alto, on Friday.

We wish there was something that could have been done.

Our thoughts are with his family.

Patrick Swayze's Wife Introduces Bill To Increase Funds For Pancreatic Cancer

Patrick and Lisa Swayze

Lisa Niemi Swayze, cancer activist and wife of late actor Patrick Swayze, stood on Capitol Hill Tuesday to reintroduce a bill aimed at making federal government research a priority for pancreatic cancer.

She describes the deadly illness as "woefully underfunded", but optimistically thinks "this will be easy to change."

Out of the five major cancers, the chances of beating pancreatic cancer are slim. In fact, she recalls her husband's first reaction to his diagnosis was one dreadful thought: "I am a dead man."

According to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, the survival rate for pancreatic cancer has remained in the single digits for 40 years.

It's the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, and 75% of patients die within the first year of diagnosis.

She spoke on behalf of every life that the disease has ever taken, pleading to legislators:

"It has been mentioned that a lot of these cancers have seen such incredible progress over the last 20 years or so have done so because they have survivors championing their causes. And a pancreatic cancer can't boast that kind of alumni … so it is up to us, friends, loved ones."

So sad, but so inspirational!

We applaud Lisa for speaking on behalf of those whose voices have been taken by pancreatic cancer, including Patrick, who fought the disease in its advanced stages for a stunning 22 months before passing.

Good luck, Lisa! We hope the bill passes and you continue to make a difference in those lives affected by this tragic cancer.

Aretha Franklin: ‘I Never Had Cancer’

When a life is in danger and the exact reason why is unknown, rumors can start flying.

That’s exactly what happened with Aretha Frankin, who was reported to have pancreatic cancer by “a family insider.” It turns out that “family insider” was wrong.

Said Aretha on the rumors:

"Well, there was just so many wild things out there and just so many things being said that weren't true. I just felt I needed to address it a little."

After a few procedures, doctors were able to figure out what was wrong with her, but she wants to keep it under wraps, so we may never know.

The most important thing is that Aretha is alright. Our Queen of Soul will live to sing another day!!

More reports confirm Aretha Franklins cancer

Oh no!

The rumors might be true!

Earlier today we read in The National Enquirer that 68-year-old soul singer Aretha Franklin has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but we're SO SAD to hear that The Detroit News has also confirmed the story.

Her publicists could not be reached for comment, but the Detroit News cited a close relative as the source of the confirmation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Queen of Soul a as she battles this terrible disease.

We wish you the best, Aretha!

Aretha Franklin Has Incurable Pancreatic Cancer, New Report Claims

National Enquirer Says Aretha Has Cancer

Just days after news that Aretha Franklin's mystery medical operation was "highly successful", The National Enquirer is reporting in a print issue that she has pancreatic cancer!

Oh no!

We sure hope this isn't true!

The magazine, known for it's over-the-top celebrity news, says that the Queen of Soul only has 6 to 8 months to live as she is locked in a secret life-or-death battle with the same cancer that took the life of actor Patrick Swayze, whose illness the Enquirer was the first to report.

The article goes on to say that the disease has only a 5 to 10 percent survival rate and Aretha's weight and age lower the odds.

If this is true, we're SO SORRY to hear about this and we wish Aretha the best as she fights the cancer.

If it's not true, we think the Enquirer should give Aretha a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T and may owe her an apology.

Either way, stay strong, Aretha!
