O.J. Simpson has been granted parole!

On Thursday, the Nevada Board of Parole decided the fate of the football star after he spent the minimum nine of his 33 possible years in prison for his part in the 2008 armed robbery of sports memorabilia.

Despite his poor responses to the board's questions, O.J. is now a free man!

Fortunately for Simpson, the board members all seemed to make their decisions based on the facts in the case instead of his testimony.

As we previously reported, O.J. could be out as early as October 1.

O.J. Simpson spoke on his own behalf at his parole hearing Thursday.

While we expected him to show contrition for his part in the 2008 armed robbery for which he was imprisoned, we did not get that at all.

Instead the Juice was still holding that he had done nothing wrong, saying the guys who belonged in jail "got a get out of jail free card when they said O.J. told them to."

When a member of the board said his testimony contradicted the story from the original trial, he rolled his eyes.

Later, he was asked if he had attended a program about alcohol abuse as he'd said he would in a previous hearing, and he denied ever having a problem in the first place.

He even said the words:

UPDATE 1:52 P.M. EST: Lovelock Correctional Facility is now blasting reports of O.J., well, breaking the penal code.

In an official statement to TMZ, the prison says:

"It is against Nevada Dept. of Corrections policy to release inmate disciplinary history to the public. It is also against policy to release inaccurate information. No official from our department would have released the information in question."

TMZ even reports their sources say guards look the other way when it comes to the five knuckle shuffle.

However, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, it is still banned nationwide (for the safety of inmates) though enforcement varies on a case by case basis. (Learn more HERE.)

This is probably a good idea.

Even though a parole board recommendation came down to let Manson Family member Leslie Van Houten free after decades in prison, California Governor Jerry Brown has flatly denied the request, citing her unbelievable cruelty so many years ago.
