Vanessa Paradis Talks Unkle Karl In Interview

vanessa-paradis-models-chanel-in-interview-magazine-november-2010-issue.jpg

Model slash singer Vanessa Paradis has a photo spread in the November issue of Interview and it can only be described as one word: stunning.

Naturally, Johnny Depp's love is wearing all Chanel for the shoot and dished about her long history with the French fashion house and Karl Lagerfeld.

Vanessa tells Patti Smith:

We met a long time ago, but I've only really known him for a few years. Working with him on the things we do for Chanel is a collaboration, of course, but it's also just wonderful to be directed by him. Because the man is just a genius-a genius with a big sense of humor-which is so much fun to be around.

He comes prepared to photo shoots, but he also has a big kid's spirit as well-because his spontaneity is incredible. He'll come up with ideas on the spot, and they are even better than the ones he came with before. His imagination is constantly going and moving. I never thought I could speak like this about photo sessions, but when you're working with him, there is something deeper than just the image. It doesn't stop at the surface of, "Okay, we'll put makeup on, we'll put clothes on, and then take a pretty picture." It's deeper than that.

The more you get to know Karl Lagerfeld, the more you love him. There's something about his eyes. He always has those really dark glasses on, but then sometimes he'll take them off and you'll see the eyes. They are so pure and beautiful. It's really amazing, because he's got quite an impressive look, with the suits and the ties and the jewelry and everything, but underneath there's really a little boy.

How insightful!

We'd love to see the softer side of Unkle Karl.

REM Will Experience The Teaches Of Peaches!

Brilliant!

The always awesome REM is prepping the release of their 15th studio album, Collapse Into Now, and bandmember Mike Mills revealed that our beloved PEACHES will be contributing to at least one of the tracks, as well as Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Patti Smith!

He continues:

"With Accelerate we were trying to make a point by making the songs as short and as fast as possible. So we wanted this new one to be more expansive. We wanted to put more variety into it and not limit ourselves to any one type of song. There are some really slow, beautiful songs, there are some nice, mid-tempo ones, and then there are three or four rockers. [It's a] very personal, very human record. Not only to [singer] Michael [Stipe], but personal and human in the sense of the narrative of the songs, the protagonists of the songs."

EXCELLENT! This sounds much more like the REM that we know and love!

And we can't wait to hear a track infused with the teaches of Peaches!

This is going to be so effing amazeballs!

New single NOW, please!

Another John Lennon Tribute Concert In The Works!

Cyndi Lauper
and Patti Smith will headline a tribute concert for John Lennon on his birthday on October 9. He would be turning 70 years old!

We recently mentioned a tribute concert in the works by Yoko Ono. We're not exactly sure about the relationship, if any, between this tribute concert and Yoko's, but we say the more the merrier! John Lennon's life deserves to be celebrated!

A couple of major events have been set for Lauper/Smith's concert date, including…

-A movie tribute to Lennon at Filmfest Hamburg

-Re-release of 8 solo albums by Lennon, digitally remastered by Yoko Ono (you get some points for that one, Yoko!)

In November, the celebrations will continue with a one-off concert at the Beacon Theatre’s stage, featuring performances by Jackson Browne, Shelby Lynne, & of course Lauper and Smith.

All proceeds from the concert will go the Playing for Change Foundation, which is a group that advocates peace through music, which we think is a WONDERFUL cause!

Will U be celebrating John Lennon’s 70th birthday?
