An unconventional choice to face off against Gal Gadot, sure, but the actress has come a long way since her Target Lady days. She's given emotional performances in dramedies like The Skeleton Twins and Welcome To Me, not to mention had a small (but terrifying) role in mother!.

It sounds like Jenkins has full faith in the casting choice. Confirming speculation that Wiig is to play the character, she shared on Twitter:

Glamour Taps Nicole Kidman, Gigi Hadid, Solange, & More Inspirational Feminists For Their Women Of The Year!

Glamour reveals their Women of the Year!

Glamour announced their 2017 Women of the Year on Monday, and this year, their "queens" are hoping to inspire change with their work and various platforms!

Nicole Kidman, Solange, Gigi Hadid, congresswoman Maxine Waters, late night TV host Samantha Bee, Dior's creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri, the Women's March organizers, Syrian refugee and activist Muzoon Almellehan, director Patty Jenkins, and astronaut Peggy Whitson are all honored in the glossy, with a slew of them featured on the different covers.

While the imagery is truly beautiful, it was amazing to learn about all what inspires them, and how they can continue to be a voice for women around the world!

Nicole, for one, explained her promise to work with a female director every 18 months:

"As an actor you're only as good as the things you're offered. And there just weren't any women offering me things. So when you dissect that, you realize there aren't women offering you things because they don't have the opportunities. I work to raise money for women's cancers; I use my voice for violence against women. And so I was like, 'I need to be part of the movement that will, hopefully, change the statistics in my field.' My nine-year-old daughter wants to be a director right now. Her whole attitude is 'The world's my oyster.' She doesn't realize that it's actually not."

But with women like Nicole so aware, hopefully change will happen!

The Big Little Lies star also shares it's important for her to have her emotions, citing her own husband Keith Urban for that reminder:

Lynda Carter Hits Back At James Cameron's 'Thuggish' Wonder Woman Criticism!

She don't need no lasso to speak the truth!

James Cameron has gotten a lot of attention — and backlash — over his criticism that Wonder Woman was "a step backwards" for female led action movies basically because Gal Gadot is too sexy in it.

The Avatar director doubled down on his stance earlier this week, adding that Gadot's Diana Prince was used as "a sex object" and, therefore, wasn't nearly as feminist as Linda Hamilton's gritty Sarah Connor of the Terminator series.

Well, someone who knows a thing or two about playing a female superhero has a scathing response to the filmmaker's "thuggish" comments: OG Wonder Woman Lynda Carter!

The actress, who played the demigod in the ‘70s TV series, took to her Facebook page to call out the "poor soul" for trying to detract from the success of the blockbuster and director Patty Jenkins.

Echoing Jenkins' rebuttal that a "there is no right and wrong kind of powerful woman," Carter wrote:

James Cameron Doubles Down On Why Wonder Woman WASN'T A 'Groundbreaking' Film!

With approximately 17 Avatar sequels in development, James Cameron doesn't have a ton of time for interviews. But when he does, the director makes sure to detract from cinema's most successful female-helmed blockbuster.

In a wide-ranging interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the filmmaker doubled down on controversial comments he made in August, in which he called Wonder Woman "a step backwards" because he saw leading lady Gal Gadot as "an objectified icon."

At the time, Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins hit back at Cameron — who cited Linda Hamilton's grizzly Terminator character Sarah Connor as the ~ultimate~ female action hero — by arguing that Gadot's beauty does not take away from Wonder Woman's power.

Well, just like his movies, Cameron is drawing this drama out twice as long as it should be. In his interview with THR on Wednesday, the director was firm he will "stand by" his original comments, but offer a bit more clarity into what exactly he meant.

As for the drop-dead gorgeous Gadot, he explained:

Director Patty Jenkins Eloquently Responds To James Cameron's Wonder Woman Slam!

patty jenkins claps back james cameron shade

Now THIS is a clap back.

On Thursday, director Patty Jenkins took to Twitter to eloquently respond to James Cameron's controversial remarks about her summer blockbuster, Wonder Woman. ICYMI, the genius behind Avatar recently stated that he felt the "self-congratulatory back-patting Hollywood's been doing over Wonder Woman" has been "misguided."

Apparently, Cameron believes there's nothing revolutionary about the new Wonder Woman venture as the lead is still "an objectified icon." Not only did the 63-year-old say the flick was "just male Hollywood doing the same old thing," but he also accused the movie of being a "step backwards."

Ouch. No wonder Miz Jenkins wrote the following:
