Deets On Drama Between Matt Damon And Bourne Writer Tony Gilroy

more deets on matt damon tony gilroy drama

Sounds to us like Matt's word vomit actually had quite a bit of meaning behind it!

To recap - last week, Matt Damon slammed Bourne writer Tony Gilroy, and referred to his Bourne Ultimatum script as "unreadable."

Fortunately, he did apologize, and then he opened up further about his plans to possibly

Oh man. This actually might be exactly what the franchise needs!

At least, according to Matt Damon!

The actor recently opened up about why he and Paul Greengrass ultimately turned down the opportunity to continue the Bourne Identity franchise with a fourth sequel, but also expressed his approval of director Tony Gilroy and replacement Jeremy Renner succeeding them - and his hopes that the pair can kick ass on screen TOGETHER in a possible fifth movie!

He says:

A Night Frankenstein At The Museum! Shawn Levy To Direct New Frankie Flick

shawn levy directing frankenstein movie

There are SO many Frankenstein projects in the works, we can't even keep track anymore!

We're not particularly enthused to announce that A Night at the Museum director Shawn Levy has just signed on to direct a new Frankenstein movie for Fox.

Other directors who were in the running included Bourne director Paul Greengrass and Harry Potter director David Yates, but in the end Shawn Levy seemed like he'd make the studio the most money be the best candidate.

Does this mean that you'll no longer be directing Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Shawn???

What do U think? Is the Night at the Museum director the right guy for Frankenstein?

Cleopatra May Be Comin' At Ya With David Fincher's Help

David Fincher best picture please

He may not have won best picture or director this year, but if he signs on to direct Cleopatra based off of Stacy Schiff's biography Cleopatra: A Life, we have a feeling he will!

Since James Cameron and Paul Greengrass have dropped out, David Fincher is currently in talks to healm Sony Picture's Cleopatra biopic film with Angelina Jolie attached to star as the Egyptian queen.

As we mentioned before, the film is being produced by super-producer Scott Rudin who worked with Fincher on The Social Network, as well as the upcoming Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, so it sounds like this is a legitimate possibility!

However, his committment will come down to timing because word is that Sony wants to get this project moving ASAP and the busy director is expected to return for the next installment in The Millennium Trilogy, The Girl Who Played With Fire.

The director is ALSO attached to Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo, so again, TIMING is a major element of his involvement.

We're crossing our fingers for Fincher to take on Cleopatra because we'd love to see his work complimented by Angelina Jolie's elegant acting!

Do U think David Fincher should direct Cleopatra?

Potential Leads For Upcoming Bourne Spin-Off Announced

bourne spinoff in the works

There's definitely a Bourne This Way joke to be had here, but we're not sure exactly what it is. Ha!

Last month, Matt Damon talked about the possibility of another Bourne movie, and he said that he hasn't ruled out the possibility of returning to the franchise in the future, IF director Paul Greengrass is directing.

In the meanwhile, Tony Gilroy will write/direct a Bourne spin-off for Universal, which starts production this Fall, and a bunch of names have already come up for the lead role in the film.

Here are the names that have been mentioned thus far:

Joel Edgerton, Josh Hartnett, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Oscar Isaac, Garrett Hedlund, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Alex Pettyfer, Taylor Kitsch, Benjamin Walker.

Garrett Hedlund could def be a good choice…although we'll still hold out hope that Matt Damon will return one day!

Which of the actors listed (above) do U think would be good for the Bourne spin-off?

3D Cleopatra With Angelina Jolie Getting Closer!

updates on angelina jolie cleopatra film

Back in October, we heard from James Cameron that a 3D Cleopatra film was in development at Sony.

Now, it looks like progress is finally being made, and according to producer Scott Rudin, a director has almost been chosen. Rumors say that The Bourne Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass is a front-runner.

Here's what Rudin had to say about Stacy Schiff's biography Cleopatra: A Life, the film's source material:

"[It's] the first to be written by a woman. It felt like such a blow-the-doors-off-the-hinges idea of how to tell it, impossible to resist. We're pretty close. A lot of directors want to do it, but there is only a handful we'll make it with."

As far as casting is concerned, Rudin has made it clear that he REALLY wants Angelina Jolie for the project:

"Who else could play it? Who do you get if not her? She's a gigantic movie star, a great actress. She's got an unbelievable variety of aspects to her."

We agree. Angelina all the way! As we've said before, she's def right for this role.

Are U pumped to hear that Cleopatra might actually happen soon?

Matt Damon Talks Bourne Franchise

matt-damon-to-play-bourne-a.jpg

Although Universal is moving forward with the fourth installment of the Jason Bourne franchise, The Bourne Legacy, without the star and the director, Matt Damon has not ruled out returning to the role that made him an action star.

It just might be a while!

Damon said:

“I really hope it’s going to happen. It’s really up to Paul Greengrass, the director. I’ve always said I won’t do it without him and I think it would be a bad idea to do it without Paul.

I think Paul’s probably going to do one or two other films that he’s got kind of cooking but after that [maybe they would start working on a Bourne film]. I think it’s kind of the thing where enough time has passed that I think it won’t matter if we wait five more years to do it.

We just want to make sure if we do it, that we do it right. There’s been a lot of pressure for us to do it obviously but that’s that moment I think where you got to step back and make sure you’re not making a mistake. So when it feels like the right time, I think Paul would be open to doing it.”

We'd love it! Luckily, we're extremely patient.
