New Details On Animated Tron TV Series

new details on animated tron tv series

Last month, we learned that an animated Tron series starring Frodo Baggins Elijah Wood was on the way.

Now, Tron: Legacy screenwriters Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis have revealed new details about the upcoming show.

Here's what Horowitz had to say about it:

"There's a 10-part micro series that will premiere next summer that Eddie and I wrote. And we've also worked on a couple of episodes with the series itself. We've hired an incredible team; we've got a guy running the show named Charlie Bean who is an amazing director."

Here's Horowitz on whether or not the show will follow the movie's continuity:

"Absolutely. And we're treating it very seriously. This animated show will take place from when Flynn is in a safe house. It's from when Clu takes over the grid to before when Sam comes in. So if you were wondering what was the grid like before that, then watch the show."

Looks like they'll be bridging the gaps between the original Tron and Tron: Legacy with this series. Very cool.

Here's Horowitz on the voice cast for the show:

"Bruce Boxleitner is in it, Elijah Wood, Linda Moore, Paul Reubens, Lance Henriksen. I mean, we've got a really cool group of actors."

And here's more on potential Tron storylines from Horowitz:

"To give you an example of how we approached storytelling sometimes is like when you're in the End of Line club, when we first meet Castor and he's being berated by one of the patrons saying, ‘I want an audience with Zuse.' His name is Bartik, and there's an entire back story we have for him. The guy with him, his name is Hopper, there's a whole thing between the two of them, what they are doing in there, and how they got there. It's like over the years of developing this movie, we developed all these mythologies and all these back stories and all little tangential things.

Did we have time to do the Bartik story? No. But now maybe the Bartik story is in the animated series —you know, he's got a huge scar on his face. I want to know how he got that scar. We couldn't sit down and write that there's a guy with a scar on his face without knowing what the scar was. So we hope it adds to the depth of the movie. Our intention is to try and make something that is more than just, let's go get something. We treat TRON very, very seriously and as writers we try to have a reason and a world for everything and not all of it gets to be shown because in this particular movie, we only had two hours. [So] hopefully it fills in the blanks in and in a fun way and an intriguing way."

Wow. Sounds like they're putting a lot of care into this series.

Guess we'll see how this plays out, but it def helps to know that the Tron: Legacy writers are also involved in this series.

Thoughts???

Looks like Pee-Wee Herman has found yet another new home for his playhouse!

Paul Reuben's Pee-Wee Herman Show is currently running on Broadway, and next it will make its way to HBO.

Immediately after the show leaves New York's Stephen Sondheim Theatre on January 2, the play will be shot for a 2011 premiere on HBO.

Here's what SVP of HBO Original Programming Nancy Geller had to say about the network's history with Pee-Wee Herman:

“Before his hit series and movies, HBO introduced Paul Reubens’ Pee-wee Herman to a national audience in the Young Comedians series, followed by the groundbreaking 1981 special."

Love it!

Are U excited to see Elijah Wood enter the Tron world? Or would U prefer to see him kicking it in Middle Earth?

Pee-Wee Is Ageless?

Paul Reubens Talks Keeping Pee Wee Herman Ageless Paper Magazine

Look, you can lie to us all you want, but there is no denying that someone has left his playhouse a time or two to hook up with Mr. Botox. We're not judging - we're just stating the obvious!

Paul Reubens, better known as Pee-Wee Herman, is the cover boy for Paper Magazine this month. In the issue, he covers an array of topics, from his new Broadway show to his 90s scandal that almost ruined him. But it was the part about him staying "ageless" that really caught our eye. In the interview, he said:

"I'm blown away that {the character of Pee-Wee] had this longevity. I'm getting old! I certainly didn't expect to really be doing this — in the same way that I didn't expect to see the Rolling Stones out there doing it. It's awkward! There's no other way to say it. I keep getting cautioned by people I work with, 'Stop talking about how old you are!' But one gets a certain wisdom, you get a certain perspective, certain growth patterns as you get older — it's not so easy for me to go, 'Age isn't really into this at all.' It's not only related to it, it's very interesting to be becoming wise and know stuff I didn't know, and apply that to the process of writing and creating something."

Uh-huh. So, if you are embracing the wisdom side of your aging, why aren't you embracing the wrinkly side too???

Or at least fess up about it! You're 58, man! There is no way!

Original Cast Members Join Up With Pee-Wee On Broadway

Back in 1981, The Pee-wee Herman Show was just a bit act at the Groundlings Theater. Thirty years later, it's headed to Broadway and the cast that made the magic all happen the first time is poised to return.

Paul Reubens will be joined by three of the other original thespians who brought Pee-Wee to life. John Moody, John Paragon and Lyne Marie Stewart will join forces with the rest of the cast that performed the new show in L.A. earlier this year as they head to the Great White Way.

This is pretty exciting for anyone who is a true Pee-Wee enthusiast! (Are there such people? For some reason, we hope not!)
