PBS Has Buried Finding Your Roots After Ben Affleck's Slave-Owning Ancestry Cover-Up!

We can't say we're surprised!

PBS has announced today that they are officially postponing the next season of Finding Your Roots after their big Ben Affleck controversy.

The network launched an internal investigation after it was reported that Affleck pressured producers into leaving details out about his ancestors owning slaves.

PBS has also said that they will not move forward with a third season until there are some staffing changes made AND they have a more solidified fact checking system!

Sounds like they're cleaning house!

Mercy Me! Josh Radnor & Mary Elizabeth Windstead Set To Join Civil War Drama On PBS

Josh Radnor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead Added to PBS Drama

Are you ready for this?! It's going to be awesome!

PBS announced today that How I Met Your Mother star Josh Radnor, along with Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, The Thing) will be jumping on board the network's newest series.

According to reports, Mercy Street will be set in Virginia during the Civil War and it's based on real memoirs from hospital workers from the era. It will follow the characters, Mary Phinney, played by Winstead, and Emma Green, played by first timer Hannah James, who work together at a Union Army Hospital, Mansion Hospital.

Of course these two women have very different moral viewpoints — otherwise there'd be no DRAMA, DUH — as Mary is an abolitionist and Emma is a good ol' confederate girl.

Last week, Ben Affleck was the subject of controversy after reports surfaced that he excluded a slave-owning relative from his family tree for his appearance on the ancestry show Finding Your Roots.

The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star explained in a post that the footage was not used because there were very few details of the account available.

After more research was done on the subject, it's come to light that the Oscar winner had not one, but three slave-owning ancestors!

In the Affleck episode of the PBS program, the star learns that his sixth great-grandfather Jesse Stanley admirably fought in the American Revolution and was one of just 2,000 soldiers who served under George Washington!

But what Benny didn't learn (on air, at least) was that Jesse's grandfather Nathaniel Stanley was wealthy landowner who paid 80 pounds for a young boy called Tobe

Last week, Wikileaks complied 173,000 emails from the Sony hacking, and shined some unfavorable light on Ben Affleck in regards to his appearance on the ancestry show Finding Your Roots.

An email exchange between a Sony executive and the show's host Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. (aka "Skip") details that Affleck wanted to leave out a slave-owning relative of his from the PBS series.

After becoming the topic of discussion, the Oscar-winner broke his silence this week on requesting a controversial branch of his family tree be left out of the program. The actor wrote on his Facebook:

We're afraid what you've heard is true. Downton Abbey is no more.

Yes, Carnival Films and ITV are putting a period on their period drama.

After several rumors and reports, the official announcement came Thursday that the sixth season of the show would indeed be its last.

No more upstairs/downstairs drama, no more rapier wit, no more untimely deaths — well, except for this one.

Cookie Monster gets his own TV show

It's about time this happened!

After years of munching cookies, Sesame Street's Cookie Monster is finally getting his own show!

The furry blue man will star in a one-hour PBS spotlight show, called The Cookie Thief. The premise is that valuable works of art, like the Muncha Lisa and the Girl With the Cookie Earring are stolen, and they think Cookie Monster did it!

Can you blame them?! LOLz!

And as always with Sesame Street, there's a lesson to be learned. In this case, it's managing our emotions, self-control, and following directions.

The one-hour PBS special will air on February 16, and will feature special guest Rachel Dratch, of Saturday Night Live fame!

We can already hear the big laughs!

The Affair Snags The Golden Globe For Best TV Drama Series!

Congrats to The Affair!

The fabulous show won the Best TV Drama Series at the Golden Globe Awards.

The cast, including Ruth Wilson and Joshua Jackson, proudly accepted the well-deserved award.

Considering the show has only been on Showtime for one season, we're very impressed that it beat out Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife, and House of Cards!

Bravo!
