This is very cool of them.
The Black Eyed Peas will be launching a music academy in New York that aims to teach teens about video and music production.
The group's Peapod Foundation is joining forces with the Adobe Foundation and the Urban Arts Partnership to build the school in lower Manhattan so that many inner-city kids ages 13-19 will have the opportunity to learn about music from some of the top leaders in the industry while also using professional equipment.
BEP's will.i.am explained their desire to open up the academy:
"Our passion for music and media was fueled by many generous people on our road to success. Expanding the network of Peapod Adobe Youth Voices academies enables us to pay it forward, giving more youth the skills and encouragement they need to realize their dreams."
We admire BEP's involvement in their community and their generous contributions. This academy will help so many teens to stay on the right path while also giving them an opportunity they most likely would have never had the chance to take.
Bravo, Black Eyed Peas!
