Ryan Reynolds Has A '1/2 Gallon Retriever'

A what?

Ryan Reynolds is totally in love with his dog 2-year-old dog, Baxter - but that doesn't mean he knows what kind of dog he is!

Ryan said:

"[He's] some kind of half golden retriever, half collie, half of some other little chunk of something in there. Ignore the math. You know what I mean."

Don't worry about in Ryan! With your new flick The Green Lantern opening over the weekend, the actor has plenty to think about besides pooch pedigree.

Besides, Ryan didn't fall for Baxter because of his blood. Last year when speaking on adopting Baxter from a shelter the star said:

"I saw this big, dumb-looking retriever staring up at me. I whispered to him, 'Hey, let's get the hell out of here.' And he jumped up, like he spoke English fluently."

If Baxter can speak English, Ryan should just him what he is. lol.

Kennel Club Launches Doggie Dating Website

dog dating website

This isn't doggie-style!

It may sound absolutely barking to some people but an online 'dating site for dogs' goes live today in a bid to improve the health of pedigree animals.

The Mate Select service, now available through the Kennel Club website, enables owners to assess how a proposed mating of two registered pedigree dogs will affect the genetic diversity of the whole breed.

It will also allow breeders and prospective buyers to check official health test results of all Kennel Club registered dogs, to see whether the puppies from two adults are likely to be healthy.

The service is another step by the Kennel Club to tackle concerns over genetic diseases in pedigree dogs, sparked by a BBC documentary which claimed animals bred for shows such as Crufts were suffering a high degree of genetic illness.

Is it really that hard to meet a bitch in a bar?

17 puppies born by Cesarean section in Poland

Take that Octomom!

Seventeen whimpering Great Dane puppies born by Cesarean section are keeping their mother, another dog and their breeder constantly busy trying to feed the unusually large litter.

The eight male and nine female pedigree puppies were born Monday at a veterinary clinic after their breeder decided to spare the mother, 4-year-old Hania, a long labor.

They are Hania's very first litter, her breeder said Thursday.

Hania, looking tired, her puppies and another female Great Dane (a doggie wet nurse) occupy most of the ground floor of her owners house in a Warsaw suburb.

The tiny pups nursed and slept by their mother on Thursday.

It appears everyone is happy and suuuuper cute

William And Kate Getting A Dog?

Will and Kate puppy

Fur ball fit for a king Prince!

Prince William and his lady love, Kate Middleton, might be getting a wedding present with a better pedigree than most of the guests at their royal wedding

German dog expert claims the royal couple are thinking over his offer to supply them with one of his pedigree Bolonkas, a Russian lap dog once popular with William's distant cousins the Tsars.

He says Buckingham Palace aides have written to him telling him that Kate and William are too busy to consider his offer and have asked if they can contact him after the April 29 ceremony.

"The animals used to be the preserve of royal palaces and the Russian Tsar's family. It has always been a dog for the aristocracy and for rich people," the breeder added.

But some feel the palace might have been letting the breeder down gently.

World's First Pet Movie Theater

Worlds first pet movie theatre

While, the film version of Marmaduke may not have been bearable for most human eyes, it may have a second chance at the box office for a different set of eyes.

The world's first movie theater for pets opened at Sweden's annual pet exhibition.

Fox Home Entertainment contacted the fair organizers with the idea and Pedigree sponsored 8 screenings with up to 20 dogs attending each show.

Project manager Gerd Linden commented about his excitement for the idea, saying:

"A cinema for dogs! This sounded like music to me. A movie with a dog as the principal actor at a pet exhibition? [How] could we do something else?"

While most of the dogs were focused on the free food given out by the dog food sponsor, Linden said, "At least they could be with their owners during the cinema and not be left at home."

Totally! Sounds like an awesome idea and we WISH we could take Teddy to the movies with us here. Too bad, he really likes foreign films, but hates reading the subtitles anyway.

Linden talked about the future of pet cinema optimistically, saying:

"We intend to continue this next year and also welcome other pets. We might have dogs, cats and snakes — though not in the same row."

Good idea.
