Since his royalty checks from Stomp The Yard haven't come in yet and the cheddar from his new song, Beautiful Monster, is going towards some new hats, Ne-Yo has had to scrap plans for a short film he was working on.
Seems the rapper started feeling all tingly and creative one day and rather than write another hit song, he ventured into the unknown world of scriptwriting. Naturally, the script was a masterpiece. So much so, that all the studios denied giving Ne-Yo any money to make the film because their dollars were not pure enough for such a genius story.
Then, Ne-Yo thought he might incorporate his new album, Libra Scale, into the movie. The label loved this idea, but again, their money wasn't good enough to pay for such a work. So Ne-Yo had to fund the project himself…which is why it isn't happening.
The aspiring Scorsese explained:
"(I had) an elaborate idea. I wrote a short story, I guess you could call it a script. My initial idea was to make a 45 minute mini-movie and my album would be the soundtrack to that film. But I found out the hard way that movies cost a whole lot of money and take a whole lot of time."
The fact that you've been in three or so movies and didn't already know that makes us question your observational skills.
Oh, but no worries to the fans who were really hoping to see Ne-Yo's epic film. He ultimatley scaled down the concept to be the video for Beautiful Monster.
But imagine what could have been…
