Looks like a can of worms has been opened!
First, we reported that The Hobbit's production company was being accused of 27 animals deaths during film.
THEN, the producers fired back at the claims, denouncing them as false.
NOW, it looks like this relationship has gotten Facebook official.
Peter Jackson has taken to Facebook to help protect his film's rep. He has released a fuller statement along with personal accounts from the owner of the farm where the animals were stored between takes as well as actors in the film.
The statement reads:
The Hobbit production has always instituted swift and immediate investigations in to any concerns of any kind over the treatment of animals under its care. A prompt and thorough investigation into the recent unsubstantiated allegations by the American organisation, PETA, in to the ‘hobbling’ of a horse during the making of The Hobbit was undertaken.
No evidence of such a practice was found to have occurred at any time.
