As we reported, A Tribe Called Quest band member Phife Dawg passed away earlier this week due to type 1 diabetes. He was only 45 years old.

On Wednesday, the legendary group — consisting of Q-Tip and Ali Shaheed Muhammad released a statement honoring the rapper, whose real name was Malik I. Taylor.

Reporter Honors Phife Dawg By Sprinkling Rapper's Lyrics Into His Traffic Report — Watch The Viral Tribute!

As you know, Phife Dawg, rapper and member of the rap group A Tribe Called Quest tragically passed away on Tuesday from complications from type 1 diabetes.

Fans and celebrities took to Twitter to give the 45-year-old a shout out and pay their respects, but one traffic reporter in Atlanta found a new way to honor the late artist.

Mark Arum from WSB in Atlanta decided to pay tribute to Phife by using some of the rapper's most famous lyrics in his traffic report.

At one point Arum asked fellow reporter Mark McKay:

"Are things ludicrously speedy or infectious with the slo mo?"

Not only that but Mark has a great little exchange with anchor Fred Blankenship too!

Another loss for the music industry.

On Tuesday, it was reported that rapper Phife Dawg had tragically passed away. He was 45 years old.

The Can I Kick It artist was best known for being a member of the iconic rap group A Tribe Called Quest. Unfortunately, it's been said that the industry vet had struggled with his health for years as he suffered from type 1 diabetes.

In fact, Phife (whose real name was Malik Isaac Taylor) even had a kidney transplant back in 2008. So sad!

Alongside Q-Tip and DJ/producer Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Phife was a MAJOR pioneer for hip hop. The ATCQ member's presence in the music scene will greatly will be missed.

Not surprisingly, many in Hollywood have taken to Instagram and Twitter to mourn the late rapper's passing — including Questlove, Elijah Wood, Estelle, and many more.
