Jeff Gordon and family

Aww! So adorable!

Jeff Gordon was named NASCAR Illustrated Person of the Year, but he also may be family man of the year!

The professional driver spent Thursday afternoon relaxing with his wife and 4-year-old daughter, Ella, in Miami.

Such a cute family!

Jeff is one of the sport's most charitable drivers and has sources describing him as "the model for NASCAR philanthropy and an example for others to follow."

This year alone, the racing icon worked in Africa with the Clinton Global Initiative, raised money for pediatric cancer research through the Jeff Gordon Children's Foundation, and helped feed the elderly during AARP's Drive to End Hunger.

Wow! We're impressed and grateful for this guy's efforts! Check out more pics of Jeff finally taking a break to enjoy life with his family below!

This gurl is more than a pair of sultry, swinging hips!

Shakira, an advocate of investing in Latino education, got her chance to to speak with government officials on the issue during a meeting of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics Commission.

That platform also gave her the opportunity to plead her case to millions of Americans on behalf of the fastest-growing group of Americans who have more children living in poverty than ANY OTHER ethnic group.

In an editorial authored by the Colombian pop star on the White House blog, Shakira argues "the only road out of poverty is education."

Maroon 5 Guitarist James Valentine Wants Charity Donations For Birthday

James Valentine Maroon 5

If you don't love them for their music, at least give Maroon 5 credit for all of their charity efforts!

Last we heard, the band helped create a Snapple flavor to raise funds for Feeding America. On top of supporting the charity with all sales from their iced tea, the band donated $250,000 out of their own pocket!

Now, guitarist James Valentine is taking philanthropy into his own hands legs and is running the 2012 L.A. Marathon to benefit childhood cancer organization, The Pablove Foundation.

His birthday is on October 5th, but instead of any gifts, he's asking friends, family, and fans to sponsor his run and make a donation to the pediatric cancer research foundation.

Every dollar donated will not only help cure a child's cancer, but motivate James to step up his running ability and finish his first marathon! In a letter on the Pablove Foundation's website, he wrote:

"I usually don't ask for gifts, but this year will you send a donation to The Pablove Foundation to sponsor my run? Now this isn't purely altruism, I've always wanted to run a full marathon; with each dollar you send in, you're emboldening my will to finish this thing."

We hope James get his birthday wish and reaches his goal of $5,000 in charitable donations to support his run.

Parent, Professional, And Philanthropist? Sarah Jessica Parker Explains How She Does It!

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker may be most famous for playing a gal enjoying the single life in Sex and the City, but her latest role in I Don't Know How She Does It hits MUCH closer to home for the actress!

In an interview for the cover of WebMD magazine, the mother of 3 opened up about the similarities between her life and the life of her character, saying:

"I said yes to the part because it depicted so accurately what it is to be a mother who wants a life that includes work outside the home, and how complicated those decisions are and the consequences of those choices. Her life is different than mine, but I related to a lot of it. I could empathize with the conflict within her, about wanting to be well thought of professionally but also to give her children and husband what they need."

Even though being a successful actress and producer isn't easy, she's careful not to complain about any hardships as a result either, explaining:

"I try very hard not to suggest there's a hardship in my life. I'm working by choice, and I have it so much easier than most women I can even imagine, who are doing it with very little financial support and resources, or maybe alone, without great options for child care."

As if dividing her time between professional and parenting duties wasn't hard enough, Sarah manages fits in charity too!

Since 1997, the actress has been an ambassador for UNICEF, a cause that has been passed down from her mother's involvement and very close to her heart "forever."

Her latest initiative for the organization is the HIV/AIDS Innovation Fund, which "is trying to change the course of the AIDS epidemic that has ravaged developing countries."

We don't doubt it will make a difference because her last program — the UNICEF Tap Project — raised $2.5 million for clean water programs in developing countries.

So how DOES she do it all? Hard work!

Although she admits to being blessed with plenty of good fortune over the years, she worked very hard to get where she is personally, professionally, and philanthropically! She shared:

"A lot of that is just good fortune. I couldn't suggest otherwise, but I've tried to be thoughtful and careful about the choices I make. I really believe in a strong work ethic, and people know that when I commit to something, I am not interested in having one foot in and one foot out the door."

She doesn't regret a second of that hard work either, as she continued:

"There's such an interest these days in how to become famous or wealthy quickly. But you have to work hard, you have to, no matter what you do. I wish I could tell younger people today, 'You will love the memories of how hard you worked, and of pounding the pavement and going from audition to audition, and going to a pay phone and digging deep in your pockets for a freakin' quarter to call your messages to see what the response was.' I talk with my friends who are actors about that part of our past, and we wouldn't want it any other way. It's the same way no matter what you do in life. Don't overlook the process when you're making career decisions."

Such good advice! We're definitely looking forward to seeing how she does it in her latest film coming to theaters this weekend!
