Sorry, possessed demon girls!

When it comes to movies, zombies ALWAYS win!

Even if those zombies are in the latest addition to the Resident Evil franchise!

That's right, Resident Evil: Retribution came out on top this weekend, beating out last weekend's previous number one flick, The Posession, and even the 3D re-release of Finding Nemo, with an impressive $21.1 million opening!

However, it was P.T. Anderson's The Master, which opened in only five theaters and stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as the head of a very Scientology-like cult, made a record-breaking $729,745, equaling out to a per-screen average of $145,949!

WOWZA!

We'll be VERY curious to see how that one continues to do as more and more buzz is generated!

Ch-ch-check out the full box office top ten this weekendAFTER THE JUMP!!!

The Master Mysteriously Disappears From The Venice Film Festival Line-Up

Film enthusiasts hoping to get a glimpse (or at least a review) of Paul Thomas Anderson's newest drama, The Master, at this summer's Venice Film Festival are majorly disappointed.

While sources reported that the next film from the director of There Will Be Blood will be debuting at the festival, it mysteriously disappeared from the schedule.

There are still plenty of high-profile films for festival attendees to look forward to, but still, pretty much everyone was

Tributes, meet your new Gamemaker!

Philip Seymour Hoffman has agreed to play the master schemer in charge of 75th annual Hunger Games, Plutarch Heavensbee!

The Oscar-winning actor was offered the part last month. Sources tell us he agreed to take the pivotal part in Hunger Games: Catching Fire over the weekend, and was made offish to the public today!

Now that they've nailed down Plutarch aaaaand cast Johanna Mason, the only BIG part they have left to decide on is Seksi McSexerton District 4 champ, Finnick Odair!

Lionsgate better hurry this up!

If they don't make up their minds soon we're gonna start an uprising! LOLZ!

The Lemming Meets The Master!

We are BEYOND excited for P.T. Anderson’s (There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights) inquisitive film The Master, starring Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and the always charming Amy Adams!

The film explores the allure of a charismatic leader and his religious cult (AHEM SCIENTOLOGY).

It’s TOTALLY a subtle dig at religion and why/how people get SO easily enthralled by something/someone that offers peace and relief from the emotionally volatile state of humanity.

Get manipulated by The Master (above)! And remember, life is SUPPOSED to be challenging and difficult, because that’s what makes the meaningful parts so rewardingly satisfying…

Hunger Games News: Philip Seymour Hoffman Cast As Plutarch Heavensbee?

Philip Seymour Hoffman hunger games

Well..

At least they have FINALLY made ONE casting decision!!

While producers claim to have no idea who will land the role of District 4 sexpot, Finnick Odair, (UGH!) they have selected an actor to play a less sexy pivotal role in The Hunger Games sequel.

The part of the new Gamemaker, Plutarch Heavensbee has been offered to Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman.

As you may recall

Christian Borle Takes Home The Tony For Best Performance By An Actor In A Featured Role In A Play!

2012-tony-awards-best-performance-by-an-actor-in-a-leading-role-in-a-play

Our beloved Andrew Garfield unfortunately didn't get the Tony Awards win for Best Performance By An Actor In A Featured Role In A Play, but instead, it was a recipient who was just as worthy!

That's right, SMASH's Christian Borle took home the win for his work in Peter and the Starcatcher, beating out Michael Cumpsty, Tom Edden, and Jeremy Shamos!

Aww! Such a sweetheart!

Easily one of the nicest speeches of the evening, and so cute to see his mom and sister looking on from audience, clearly so very proud!
