Philip Seymour Hoffman hunger games

Well..

At least they have FINALLY made ONE casting decision!!

While producers claim to have no idea who will land the role of District 4 sexpot, Finnick Odair, (UGH!) they have selected an actor to play a less sexy pivotal role in The Hunger Games sequel.

The part of the new Gamemaker, Plutarch Heavensbee has been offered to Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman.

As you may recall

Christian Borle Takes Home The Tony For Best Performance By An Actor In A Featured Role In A Play!

2012-tony-awards-best-performance-by-an-actor-in-a-leading-role-in-a-play

Our beloved Andrew Garfield unfortunately didn't get the Tony Awards win for Best Performance By An Actor In A Featured Role In A Play, but instead, it was a recipient who was just as worthy!

That's right, SMASH's Christian Borle took home the win for his work in Peter and the Starcatcher, beating out Michael Cumpsty, Tom Edden, and Jeremy Shamos!

Aww! Such a sweetheart!

Easily one of the nicest speeches of the evening, and so cute to see his mom and sister looking on from audience, clearly so very proud!

Perez Reviews: Death Of A Salesman

playbill.jpg

We had never seen Arthur Miller's iconic play Death Of A Salesman before Wednesday night. We hadn't even seen the movie! So we were filled with curiosity when we went to catch the new Broadway revival, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Andrew Garfield.

We were expecting great performances, and - thankfully - we were not disappointed! But would we like the show? Would it still be relevant after all these years?

The answers are yes and YES!

We loved Salesman, the play, and loved this Mike Nichols-directed version.

The complexity of families and the dynamic between parents and their children and between siblings - that never gets old! It is material so rich for mining!

The play packs such a emotional punch! There is one scene and moment in the second act, where Garfield's character lashes out at his dad and then crumples in his arms in a ball of tears that is just so powerful! Hoffman and Garfield made it all seem so real! We were bawling ourselves!

The rest of the ensemble was equally good. And we are very happy that we got to experience this production and venture out of our usual comfort zone of just seeing musicals!

Amy Adams Joins PT Anderson's Scientology Film!

amy adams joins scientology film

They should get Tom Cruise next! He WAS in PT Anderson's film Magnolia. LOLz.

Okay, so Tom is probs not going to do this film or any film with Paul Thomas Anderson ever again, but we're pleased to report that Amy Adams is set to star in PTA's Scientology film!

Adams will star as the wife of Philip Seymour Hoffman's character, who has been described as "a man who returns from witnessing the horrors of WWII, and in an attempt to find himself, he forms a belief system that catches on in the 1950s."

Joaquin Phoenix has also been attached to the film as Hoffman's "right-hand man." Other actors in talks for the film include The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo's Lena Endra and Laura Dern.

As we said before, this sounds like a very inneresting film, and we're excited to see Amy Adams on board! We know she'll be wonderful!

Are U excited to for PT Anderson's Scientology film? Do U think Amy is a good fit for her role?

Steve Carrell To Play Meryl Streep's THERAPIST In Great Hope Springs!

Wow! This ought to be QUITE the pair!

We reported that Meryl Streep has re-teamed with her Devil Wears Prada director David Frankel for a new film, called Great Hope Springs, which is a domestic drama about a middle-aged couple having problems in their marriage.

Well, the cast list keeps getting better and better, as Philip Seymour Hoffman and James Gandolfini have also signed on for parts, as well as Steve Carrell, who is expected to play Streep's therapist in the flick!

Amazing! Given Carrell's more serious turns in Dan In Real Life and Little Miss Sunshine, we think he's a fantastic choice! It will certainly be inneresting to see what kind of flick this turns out to be!

What do U think?? Are U excited for Great Hope Springs??

Mike Nichols And Philip Seymour Hoffman Team Up For Death Of A Salesman!

Well, this just has Tony's written all over it!

Mike Nichols announced yesterday that he would be directing the Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman next fall, and Philip Seymour Hoffman would be stepping into the role as Willy Loman!

Although Hoffman is arguably a lot younger than Loman for the majority of the piece, Nichols doesn't seem too deterred, and explains:

“Willy is different ages over the course of the play — young, middle-aged, old — but what matters is finding the right man to play the part. I’m thrilled to be doing this with Phil.”

We're thrilled, too!

There's no way that this will be anything less than spectacular!

What do U think?? Are U excited for a revival of Death of a Salesman??
