We already knew that Gabby Douglas was going to be doing the Pledge of Allegiance at the DNC, because she spilled the beans not too long before hand.

What we didn't know was how incredibly cute — and moving — it would be!

We've never been more moved by the Pledge of Allegiance in our entire lives!

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who was nearly killed by a bullet to the head in January 2011, took the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte last night to express her loyalty to the flag (above).

She stumbled on a few words, but the recovering politician got it all out with a smile on her face and was greeted with a thunder of applause from the appreciative audience.

Such a beautiful moment from such a beautiful woman who is an inspiring example for us all! Who else needs a tissue after that?

Remember Will Phillips?

He was the ten year old who made headlines after he refused to recite the Pledge of Allegiance until gay, lesbian, and transgender people have the same rights as everyone else!

Phillips has made such an impact in the fight for equal rights that he's been chosen as the grand marshal of the Northwest Arkansas Gay Pride Parade this Saturday! Click above to see the news story!

We're so proud of him! It's truly inspirational to see a child with such an amazing and insightful understanding of a struggle that many adults don't even attempt to make sense of!
