Well, three out of four isn't bad!

But we still wish they could have abolished ALL of these ridiculously RACIST and unjust policies!

The U.S. Supreme Court finally ruled today MOSTLY in favor of the federal government in regards to the controversial SB1070, a policy in Arizona immigration that has caused quite a bit of controversy regarding its support of blatant racial profiling. Although the 5-3 vote was largely a success, the judges upheld the arguably most CONTROVERSIAL provision, which allows police to check the immigration status of individuals while enforcing other laws!

Ch-ch-check out a news report on the semi-victory!

According to Justice Anthony Kennedy:

Lindsay Lohan Violated The Terms Of Her Insurance Policy By Crashing Driving Her Porsche To Work!

lindsay-lohan-film-insurance-violation-car-accident

Ever since Lindsay Lohan found herself in yet another mess by driving her rented Porsche into an 18-wheeler on the PCH - and then trying to lie about it - while filming Liz & Dick, we been seriously wondering why on Earth producers of the new Lifetime movie would even allow her to get behind the wheel in the first place, given her history!

Well guess what? They HADN'T!

Yup, that's right! Just in case gurl needed another set of instructions to blatantly ignore!

According to sources with the flick, the production company had a hard time getting insurance for Lindsay, and the policy they ultimately found was very clear on their conditions, one of which being that she was banned from driving while doing work on the film!

And look what

Tuxedo-Wearing Lesbian Changes School Policy On Yearbook Photos

At least it's a change in the right direction.

Lesbian teen Ceara Sturgis sued her Mississippi school after they banned her graduation picture, in which she wears a tuxedo, from the school's yearbook.

Not only did the school ban the picture, but they also excluded her name.

Awful!

Thankfully, the school has decided to change their policy. According to the ACLU:

"The district has agreed to adopt a policy that will require all students to wear a cap and gown, rather than require boys to wear tuxedos and girls to wear drapes."

Her picture will also appear in the school library, just as it should have been shown in the 2009 yearbook.

Her response?

"I am thrilled that my photo will join [the class picture]. It’s important that nobody else will be forced to wear something that doesn’t reflect who they are.

Hopefully no other students will be excluded from this important rite of passage simply for expressing themselves. Copiah County School District has done the right thing by changing the yearbook policy so no students have to feel as if they’re out of place."

Bravo, Ceara. We are so proud of you for standing up for yourself. People like you are what help change this world.

Now if we can only get the school to allow kids to express themselves however they want…

New York Town Clerk Refuses To Sign Same-Sex Marriage Licenses!

Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayPolitik

Awful. And when it comes down to it, just truly sad.

Despite the state of New York legalizing same-sex marriage, a town clerk in Cayuga County, New York, has refused to sign the licenses, and has asked that she be be allowed to let a deputy take over the job.

According to a citizen in the town:

“Ledyard Town Clerk Rose Marie Belforti submitted a letter to the Ledyard Town Board saying that her religious beliefs prevented her from signing marriage licenses for same-sex couples and the board discussed Belforti’s letter at Monday’s meeting, according to John Binns, a member of the town board.”

Ugh. Absolutely deplorable.

The law is the LAW, lady! If you don't like it, work somewhere else!

Luckily, that seems to also Gov. Andrew Cuomo's opinion on the matter, as he's stated publicly that if town clerks cannot follow the legislation, then they need to leave their posts!

Good! Have fun trying to find another job in this economy, gurl!

Dont Ask Dont Tell Halted

Awesome!

A federal appeals court has put an immediate stop to enforcing the U.S. military's Don't Ask Don't Tell ban on gay service members!!

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said Wednesday the "don't ask, don't tell" policy must be immediately lifted now that the Obama administration says it's unconstitutional to treat gay Americans differently under the law.

Woo! That's fantastic news!

There was no real specific timeline to this, so this news is a welcome surprise today! We're so happy that the military is becoming more and more ready to let those in the LBGT community serve and protect the country!

EQUALITY FOR ALL!!
