Sherman Hemsley Died Of Lung Cancer
The actor who played George Jefferson moved on up to that deluxe apartment in the sky over a week ago and now, we know what killed him.
It was lung cancer.
According to the El Paso County Texas Medical Examiner's post-mortem report, Sherman Hemsley's cause of death was "superior vena cava syndrome" — a complication derived from a cancerous mass attached to his lung.
